If MCP was your first choice what would be your 2nd? Looking to replace my Fishman KM7. Wanted to see if I could get a hothead in 7 string but no replies. Anything similar out there?

Sorry. Seriously though, and never owned one, but I would think Bare Knuckles would be similar. Not sure why but seems like the capture the same type of artist tones.

I think the WCR Ironman could pass as a MCP pickup. Hot, tight, balanced, and wicked. Don’t think they come in 7 though.

I like the WCR Ironman better the MCP’s, but yeah probably not available as a 7 string

My Ibanez started out with a DiMarizo Tone Zone which actually wasn't bad. I then thought about swapping so I tried several DiMarzios and Bare Knuckles. Finally, I put in an Afwayu I had and BOOM. There is my sound. Again. Hard to beat MCP and I'm not sure what compares to them =D.

Been using them since 2007
Loved the MCP 2nd degree Black belt, though
Sits somewhere between the BKP VHII and Mule
The Afwayu was just too much for my Les Paul Custom, like bass boosted alnico nailbomb
It felt like it was gonna explode no matter how soft I played

Totally agree. I’ve got the Afwayu In three guitars. It’s a huge sounding pickup. Too much in some guitars, but can’t be beat in the right one. MCP rule.
