What would it take to get you back to primarily using a tube amp?

I’ve tried most modelers and hated the feel. My friend has an axe3 and a vht power amp and he had it set up in a way that felt better than any I tried but something was still lacking.

For advances in tube amps, a better version of power scaling would be cool. I’ve played an amp that had it and it’s just not the same as playing an amp cranked. The feel and dynamic, the articulation of a cranked amp isn’t there. Sounds pretty good, but it’s not the same. Especially under the fingers. The master on my Friedman works and sounds better than the power scaling I played.

Perhaps if someone was able to incorporate John petrucci world domination mode that would be cool.

Perhaps an actual mini refrigeration system to accompany the cup holders? You could hire sir Billy Bladez as an expert consultant on the cup holder mod.

Ok, enough joking aside. As a big time fan of physics, how about a mini version of the haldron collider? We could have fun with physics and help start solving unresolved questions about particle physics. Also, the interrelation between quantum mechanics and general relativity would be cool to solve with an amp. I think we will need 1.5 to 2 TeV minimum to achieve our goals, and we could accidentally figure out time travel. Or, alter of adjust the space time continuum.

Ok, this would be truly awesome, have a built in theramin!!

Extra power supply for w/d/w rig.

Solar panels!!

A hidden compartment!!

Tube tester built in , or invent a mini gang hold tube tater that’s part of the amp

Tube tester would actually be amazing.

I've been doing the digital thing for the past year for live shows. Still love tube amps though. What I would love to see would be a two channel head with great cleans and a hot-rodded Marshall flavored dirty channel that didn't cost $3k.

Errrrl is one of the greats and an inspiration to us all. a lot of his drums tracks are just backing tracks we use for drumjams, i could send you the tracks and you could be recording over the same drums, its stupid easy.
Big thanks, but I wanna write the drums myself. Been doing it that way since the advent of drum machines in the 80s.
Used to have to punch in and out because the first drum machines didn't have enough memory.
They didn't even have the ability to change time signatures....or tempos.
I'm about ready to raid the storage unit and find the boxes with the newest drum machines I have and start from scratch.
But damned if I wanna go digging around in there. So much liquor to move just to get back to where the boxes are.

i understand, i had the slate drum pack and i was using a keyboard to program drums but i got over that and just bought a drum set and started playing

I'm starting to get back into playing after 20+ years of doing other things . Back in the 90's I had a 20 watt all tube amp with a tube screamer and was perfectly happy .

I paid under $500.00 for the amp back then and I bought a new Les Paul for $850.00 in 1990. About a half year ago was the first time I started looking at guitar related stuff online and I see things that I have no clue about especially these high tech modelers . I look at the prices and I'm like .....................

Fractal , Kemper , Quad Cortex , Helix ...

I like listening to tunes and figuring them out by ear that's the extent of my guitar hobby . I had a Peavy classic 20 and a Marshall JCM 900 50 watt back in the day but I would love a JMP or a JCM 800 for old times sake .

I see so many people with these 1 to 2K Fractal's etc.. and I think these people are obviously really really into music and are probably professional musicians but I'm starting to think many are just hobby players and not professionals at all and spend enormous amounts of money on this stuff .

Hey , everybody's different and if you have the $$ by all means spend it on anything you like I'm just surprised by all this super high tech stuff.

The biggest negative to me about these awesome pieces of gear is how ridiculously complicated they look and the mind boggling amounts of settings . I was just reading about the Fractal FX III and it has over 100 presets. I have a transistor radio that has 10 presets and to this day I only utilize 3 of them.

I'm definitely somebody who would never ever come close to utilizing the capabilities of these devices , a boss pedal with 3 knobs is what I like but as said everybody's different and if you're a person who needs a ridiculous amount of options than that's what you need.

Did you get your BE100 Deluxe yet? Did I miss your NAD?

What are your thoughts on it compared to your Splawn and EVH Stealth? I see it in your signature.
Not yet. They are in back order from Sweetwater. Though I am considering changing my order to the SS100 V2. Lol.

I have and play and love both, I don’t compare my AxeFx III to my tube amps to see if it’s accurate or better. They are all just different flavors to me, both have their conveniences and draw backs. So many amps are variations of other amps, I look at the AxeFx (and other modelers) the same way.

For me something like the Hughes and Kettner Grandmeister is heading down the right path
4 voices a Clean / Crunch /
British hi gain / Modern HiGain
I would like basically American Cleans , Brit chime like AC
British crunch that goes from plexi to 800 to Hot Rodded
Finally a Modern Hi gain doing the Recto / 5150 / SLO thing
Some basic effects like delay / verb
And IR loader
Power levels
The only thing I would want is big glass 50 / 60 watts. But still fairly compact

That SS v2 sounds incredible and like it would do all the BE stuff and then some

Those amps had interesting features when they came out, but unfortunately sound like H&K. I remember it having the RedBox thing, which isn’t great, not IRs.

which isn’t great
It's quite good for what it is and even though the design is several decades old it's still one of the best analog cab sims. I like to mix analog and IR when going FOH.

Turns out that Strats made me want to get a tube amp again. I put my Gilmour Strat together about 8 months ago and because it had a ton more tones available in it than just Gilmour’s (it has the EMG-DG-20’s) I really fell in love with stereotypical Strat tones, the big neck pickup, the 2/4 positions, all of them. I almost stopped playing metal music for like 6 months straight as a result.

I wanted to start building a rig based off Gilmour/EJ tones, no modeling. I LOVE my Fractal stuff, but I love gear, period. The Fractal stuff does exactly what I want/need it to, but more is more.

I’ve been wanting a really great clean platform I can stack pedals on and get all the dirt that way. First amp I snagged was a Hot Rod Deluxe I got for fairly cheap but ended up returning it because it was just too vanilla. This weekend I was looking at the FB Marketplace and someone had a DRRI listed for $600. I went and checked it out, the thing is in mint condition so I brought it home. I don’t think it’s going to stay because this thing does NOT like dirt pedals. I’m grabbing a Torpedo and seeing if cranking it can do anything more for it, but up front I was very not stoked with it. I thought the fuckin’ speaker was blown it all sounded so bad (with dirt pedals).

I’m going for a Bassman next and if that doesn’t pan out, going over to Marshall. I’ve got my eyes on the SV20 right now, but I’m a huge fan of the JTM45. I really don’t want any modern tones out of this, I’ll use the Fractal stuff for any modern/high gain shit, I just want this to be a perfect boomery rig.

Since guitar porn is always fun, these two get more play time than any other guitar I currently own, both partscasters.

I think someone should combine the amp with the guitar to make an all in one kinda thing. This one goes to "12". It even has a built in bias meter ❤️

Although I'm concerned for its resonance and feedback
