Hey guys & gal! ; )

Just like the title says...

Was wondering what speakers everyone likes to pair up w/ their 2x12 or 4x12 for high gain amps.
Looking for standard size type cabinets.. No oversized types.

Think Mesa , 5150, Diezel , Soldano , VHT , KSR style/type gain.

I've been mainly using Gt12-75's , EV 12L's , Scumback J75 100watt

I'm currently trying Eminince Legends to see how they are.

I probably should have mentioned that I'm looking for something that has a tight bass response , good mids , and definitely no ice pick , shrill type highs.
Not a fan of V30's if that helps.

Any other recommendations?

Thanks!
Mark

I am digging greenbacks at the moment. I have been told if you play at higher volume levels the creambacks are good. I also have an old Mesa cab with the 90 watt speakers on the top and the EV 200 watt on the bottom. Very Beefy. I have owned the same Mesa cabs for about twenty years now and have just recently switched to EVH Cabs. The EVH 4 x 12 cabs sound good with the EVH heads. I have not tried them with anything else.

K100 from Celestion

Governors and Swamp Thangs from Eminence

Ive been using a G12h30 4x12 cab. I love it. But, I also really dig the V30/h30 x-pattern mix.

With my Mark 2C+ definitely V30s, also works with a Jubilee. Older 75s sound great with most amps, like a high powered GB. G12 65s are best for a Marshall circuit IMO. GBs tend to woof out for me at high volume. Have a Rivera k412t that is a nice tight V30 cab, fender tone master is another v30 cab that's under the radar and usually cheap. Mesa standard cabs are nice too.

Thank you guys! I appreciate the suggestions..

Hey Reza... v30's are sh*t.

g12h30 70th anniv. tight bass, good mids and not shrill in the highs. they have worked very well with every amp I have paired them with.

I know you said you aren't a fan of V30's but to me after they are broken in good they are hard to beat for high gain tones. When new and not broken in well they can be pretty harsh sounding.

Some of the best cabs are loaded with V30's. Bogner and Mesa just to name a few. Once broken in V30's are great.

I like speakers other than v30s but whenever you jam with another guitarist and he has v30s you never ever cut through properly most of the time. So I just always go with v30s, although atm I'm using a VHT 412 which cuts nicely.

Thanks again guys!

How long do V30's take to "smooth out".

That shrill drives me nuts. : (

The only time the "shrillness" of a V30 bothers me is when I'm jamming by myself. Using them with a band is a different story. They slice like nothing else. From what it sounds to me like you might be looking for is the reissue Greenbacks. I only like them in a 4x12 though. Haven't tried the Creambacks. I've got a pair of Lynchbacks in my 2x12 that I'm still deciding on. They sound fantastic by myself, but haven't tried them with a band yet.
