I have noticed lately that these amps are not selling well in the used market. I have an m-90 and it's a great amp I just don't understand I've seen them go as low as $1600 to $1700. These things cost between $3700 and $3800 new. It must be the market.

Yes, there was a guy here in Portland that was selling his for $1900 in mint condition, it was on Craigslist for months.

why does it matter, as long as the elmwood delivers your tonal needs?

i would not be complaining if i were in the market for them.

if you use gear as an investment strategy ala stock market equivalent then i can see where concern would come into play i suppose.

I am not complaining was just courious thats all. Because they are great amps.

tone is subjective.

one mans trash is another mans treasure

dude, that is the damn truth..........almost philosophical

i have been noticing the same thing as greg with the elmo's. i still have an m90 somewhere packed away.

It is a problem for them I guess, I mean who wants to buy an Elmwood new at this kind of loss when selling used?

It's just the market. Most of the time you can pay 35% of the selling price on a quick sale for cash. Not a bad time to be picking up used gear. Hopefully the economy will recover soon. But for now... Hell, I may even be able to afford a Herbert or a Schmidt soon

We need a few guys on the forums to post up some hot clips and rave about them. Then the price will escalate at least 40% :D

Nothing is really selling now. Alot of stuff sits on CL and Ebay forever. Economy still sucks.

VHT-Fryette amps are the same way on the used market, they are great amps also.

Not a lot of people know what they are. The name is not as well known as say Marshall or Fender, even though the amps might be better made. Same thing happens with Rivera and is how I started collecting them back in the day. I would hang out at Rudys at 48th street when I was young and get schooled on them. Get to play these $2k amps or so and then go into a store and see a mint one used for $400 or $600 and buy it because no one knew what it was. I got a lot of good deals on gear that way, because the store owners here knew me and knew that I was the guy that would buy that Schon or that Rivera...or whatever when they couldn't move it. This is a good thing....unless you are selling. :D

Yeah, thats pretty much it. We had this issue a few days ago.
I told David (SharkDiver) that the prices are down in germany, what about
the states. He replied: Market is down everywhere, good for some, bad for others.

yep, four weeks ago a Pitbull 50 went away for 750€ - thats nothing,
and a Fryette Deliverance for 500 Bucks ... also nothing.

Probably just the market/economy. I personally wouldn't pay even $1500 for an Elmwood, but that's only because they just don't do it for me. Not bashing em though. I've heard people make them sound great, just not for me.

Im with you on this, i don't get it. I only sold my M90 to fund my fortin but i thought i lost my ass but im starting to wonder with some of the ads im seeing. Tone is certainly different for everyone but i think many people don't give alot of time. I learned to really crank the masters and get the power section going and i thought it sounded huge.

Yea, I like my 3100 better than my Herbert for most things. They're such well made amps, I can't believe the prices I've seen them at lately (the m90/m60s - never see a 3100 around), but when no one is posting clips, and no iconic bands are using them, interest fades. I don't know how they'll survive selling them for what they do, with the used market so saturated.

Has anyone heard that all tube large Pedal/ Preamp they make ?

Supposed to have the full sound of their amps .
