favorite in order from most favorite to lowest

orange 400 watt cab
splawn with the small block eminence
mesa - traditional with v30s
hughes n kettner vortex cab with the rock driver jrs (by the way the best giging cab due to light weight and great sound- I may not prefer this cab over the others listed before but on the used market this is the best cab and I recommend it over all others based on cost and weight
avatar contemorary with x-pattern v-30 and 75s
ampeg guitar center cab - must note this cuz the cab with original crappy speakers is crappy, but replace the speakers and you have a nice cab ampeg does not claim this particular cab as they state that it was a propritary build for GC when they blew these out the door for 299 new
univox -1-15 cab (really cool) vintage unit
KJL club owner cab shared baffle but uses a 12 and 10 inch celestion

i think that is it I may have some other gear floating around

The sewers are muddied with a thousand lonely suicides.

The skyline was beautiful on fire
All twisted metal stretching upwards
Everything washed in a thin orange haze

I said, "Kiss me, you're beautiful -
These are truly the last days"

You grabbed my hand
And we fell into it
Like a daydream :)

Right now I have 3 Marshall cabs,2 Mesa Recto cabs and 1 Bogner. My favorite was the
Bogner,now it's a Marshall TV 4x12 with greenbacks.it's 4 inches bigger than a standard
Marshall, which makes it the same size as a Recto cab,I thought for sure it would be on the
harsh side since it's a 100 watts, but I was wrong,it's smooth with plenty of lowend and punch, great attack,if you can find one buy it.
I'm not sure when this cab was designed,60s,70s or 2000's.but I'm going to stick with these
for now on,hopefully I'll be able to find another.

Diezel is making a monster cab these days.

Love my front loaded Diezel with K100's.

diezel front load k100s... its like mojo magic, tried so many others, and guys who plug into this say the same thing!

I'm surprised this thread isn't loaded with OMFG MILLS FOR SURE!!! Granted I've never tried one but, I'd like too...but, my top cabs are Splawn, Mesa, Framus, and Engl.

Best sounding cabs I ever heard are the ones that were made by Peavey in the 80's. I like a combination of Celestion H30/Vintage 30 for speakers.

Don't have a favorite.
I don't want to find a cab that sounds great no matter what amp I run through it.
That might cause me to stop my love affair with owning multiple 4x12's.

Got to finally try a mills..great cab,but still not as awesome as my diezel.

Wasn't there a thread like that here not too long ago? I guess the sentiment wore off haha.

For me, without a doubt my Recto cab. I spent a ton of time researching and comparing before I decided on the Mesa and I will never sell or get rid of it. If it got damaged or stolen I'd buy another the next day. As far as recordings go (my primary use) my tone has never been better. I get lots of compliments on my tone but the truth is my amps and guitars aren't anything special. I'm convinced the magic is in the cab and that's what I'm sticking to. There are probably better choices for live use, but I love how fat and sludgy rhythms sound through the Recto. Nothing compares to the bottom end response of these cabs. Just can't get any better than that IMO.

I agree and have the exact same experience with my Mesa D.R. 4x12. I never property A/B stuff (WISH I had the studio or house to!) .....but I recently was able to do that with my cabs. Long story short....I sold my 2 Marshall cabs the next week.

I actually know someone that just went through the same thing and now he wants to off his Marshall cab. It amazes me how many people shit all over Mesa cabs for no reason, the Recto specifically. They obviously SOUND pretty good   Must be looks or name or something

It's the woof sound in the low end they make. That is what people dislike or like in the Mesa cabs.

I guess so. I guess my amps aren't powerful enough to tap into the full woof of it yet, but it does make my amps sound a lot more powerful than they are haha.

It does it with all amps .... the old over sized Marshall cabs that are the same size also had this sound in the bass. Some people love it others hate it.

Ive been content enough to stay with my Diezel front load 4x12s and vintage 2x12s for years now :) ...A few of us here @ rig talk did a cab shootout( as far as rock/metal goes) with a bunch of popular cabs and the diezels came out on top for tone, tightness of sound, aggressiveness, easiest to handle high sound pressures, and a great feel.. :)

i love my splawn cabs! both are 4x12 straights, loaded with V30s. they're built like tanks and sound huge!
