The production model came out in 2010, and I seem to remember it going thru a few iterations/factory mods early on but settling down pretty fast.

Most Friedmans have the same preamp design with differences being in the tone stack and varying negative feedback amounts. They can sound really good, but one thing to note is how smooth in the top end they are compared to Marshalls. They are also more compressed overall and don’t sound as raw or wild as a plexi or 2203/2204. It’s because of those characteristics that I have a hard time liking them.

I believe the BE debuted in 2010. Before that was the Marsha (see above).
I have owned them all: a 2009 Marsha, a 2015 BE-100 (no updates), and a 2019 BE 100 Deluxe.
The 100 Deluxe is the best one. It can sound like any of the others, and frankly, like any of Dave’s other amps too.
The 2015 BE 100 was my least favorite. Less gain, more choked. Just wasn’t for me.
The Marsha was great. Darker and more gain than the 2015. More compressed. Great amp. Was just superfluous with the Deluxe. Deluxe can do Marsha tones plus a zillion others. It’s a tweaker’s dream amp.

I had an early version; 2010 that was hand wired by some Metro forum guys I believe. It had that dark smooth thing, but also had a switch that made it much more like an open/bright sounding modded JMP. If all his products had that switch, he'd sell even more imo.

I've never thought of the BE100 as a face melter. They're more refined than face melting.
