Where is all the gear????

I think part of it is our collective enthusiasm has waned. Most of us have likely been on the forums since the early 2000s, if not earlier. We probably spent the first couple years a little leary of dealing with "strangers" on the internet, and then once the seal was broken, went wild. Then eventually, you've tried basically everything, and sort of wind up in a place where we are reasonably content with what we have, and what we've had.

Like many have already posted. The hassle of selling has been a bummer and I’ve slowly grown to over 30 guitars and other things. I did take 6 amps and several guitars to a local store and put on consignment and sold. That was easier as I didn’t have to deal with it.

Between all of the hacking of accounts on forums and Reverb letting people return just about anything, I'm pretty much only selling/trading locally. It's just not worth the headache.

I suspect we'll see more gear hitting the used market in the coming years as boomers are physically/mentally unable to keep playing, going into assisted living / nursing homes, passing away, leaving heirs to deal with whatever gear they have left.

Arthritis is slowing me down, and accelerated in the last two years; and I see a time in the future where I won't really be able to play; Already can't play like I did in my prime years, and it can be disheartening at first until you accept it.

I suspect I'll be selling lost of gear in 7-10 years except pieces I want to keep until death if possible.

Until then, I'll enjoy what I have, buy and sell things along the way.
