Cost wise, I don't think you'll be able to beat the K-Tre' in the used market for a value.

As others have said, VHT is ridiculously tight and unforgiving. Wizards come to mind as well, but I am not sure how much gain they have (I would imagine more than enough though). Also, a used Titan would be a good choice as well and not expensive. These are my recommendations based on tight and unforgiving.

Well, I plan on buying new, and my budget ie around $2,500 and under. This being the case, would you still recommend the K-Tre' over all else on my list?

i dunno if its been recommended, but i'd try a K2 baron amplifier from dave. im sure one of those amplifiers running those KT88's, boosted, would slay and sound phenominal. talk about awsome headroom.
this is the first or second time the peters amplifiers have been recommended. thats another great company you dont hear too much about - i'd do some research on these first though.
another recommendation woud be to check out lee jackson's amplifiers.. he was big for a reason. im surprised you dont hear much of his name here to be honest.

I play thrash/death metal style, and I'm looking for a new amp. I want it to be an aggressive, pissed off sounding amp. I love punchy, growling mids, and I need something nice and tight, that would showcase any mistake made so to speak; I can't stand mushy sludgy amps!
This first video is very much right on it. I can tell you from owning one, this vid pretty much nails what I hear out of mine.

I've got to say; after doing a lot of research, reading everything and listening to every clip, and seeing every video I could possibly find on these amps, I'm really leaning towards the "Peters Chimera" and the "Bogner Ubershall Twin Jet"!

The first video sounds good, but it's been produced, mixed and mastered.... The second one sounds pretty horrible, though. I've played through the K-Tre as well as the other versions of the Knucklehead and from what I remember, they didn't seem to do it for me. However, OP, try them out and see! But, my vote is still for Mako. I've also played a Twin Jet (briefly) and used to own an Uberschall. I really didn't like the Twin Jet, though. I mean, it wasn't "bad" but it didn't really stand out as anything special to me.

ONe thiing to think about is what happens if it breaks down? My Engl Powerball took 4 months as I spend over a G in labour 
as they had no clue how to fix it 
(and I live in a Major city).
Peters is out of Winnipeg, so at least your dealing with a north american country that speaks english and probably has some sense of how to treat a customer. I'd love to hear one in person if I could.

I'm thinking as for high gain, the Twin Jet is the most versatile. You've got channel 1, that can do the classic metal sounds, and I"m sure boosted can do a lot of great metal styles, and then you have channel 2, which will do more modern metal in spades. This ability in and of itself would seem to put the Twin Jet in a class by itself.

Like I said before, I used to own an Uberschall and it was a great amp, but once I got to know it well, I decided it wasn't right for MY sound. I've played a Twin Jet (briefly, for about an hour straight) and while it is a good amp, it didn't really shine in any particular area, for me. That said, it may be the perfect thing for your playing style and for your sound.
But, having said all that, I really think the best bet is a Mako. Now, I haven't played one myself. However, I've talked to pretty much everyone I've been able to find who owns one here on Rig-Talk, on The Gear Page and on Harmony-Central and listened to clips and videos that they've made. I can pretty much safely say that you can't go wrong with Mako. I actually just bought a new amp today and I would have bought a Mako except for two reasons:
1. Can't play one before buying it because you have to buy them direct.
2. Andrew has stopped production on Mako amps until mid January because he's moving into a new, larger shop.
Other than that, Mako amps are quite versatile and roughly half the price of any other comparable amp out there right now AND the build quality literally walks all over other boutique builders. Excuse my hyperbole.
In my search for my next amp I narrowed it down to two companies: Diezel and Mako.
If I sound like a Mako fan-boy, it's because I am. Hopefully I can get my hands on one in the future.
