Tech-21 Boost D.L.A.

As the name suggests, it is a clean boost that also has delay with it as well...very nice for solos...no spillover or tap tempo on the original model. The newest version has tap functions. I dig it.

Discontinued model. I dont know why, those peds are great.

Boss RV-3

Sounds good to me, it's cheap, it's easy to dial in, and it has reverb too.

I saw your post about trading for one of those. They had one at the local used gear store for $140 but it was beat and rusty. I gave it a try, because I've been wanting something cheap with a good reverb and delay as well. I liked it alot but I like my gear to be in good condition. So I decided to get one on ebay. I saw in the completed transactions prices go all over the board. One went for about $270. The first one I bid on went for $360. :scared: I ended up getting the next one for about $160. Still pricey but it was in great shape.

I have the Boss DD-20 but, I'm not that happy with it. It's a versatile pedal however, it just doesn't sound that great to me. I usually run delay in the loop so it sounds better with high-gain sounds. The DD-20's sound-on-sound function is pretty cool, though.

I used to have an Ibanez DE-7 that sounded better for just regular old delay.

I think I might try a DD-3/5/7, Carbon Copy, Timefactor, or Nova.

However, the best delay sound I've ever heard came from one of those Fulltone Tube Tape Echos....but they are crazy expensive and a pain to use....like $1,200!!!!

If you like the Fulltone stuff I would not bother with a DD anything and look at the HK Replex. I think Amplifier has one for sale.

Thanks for the plug Scott! I am selling a Replex if you're interested. It's a killer tube driven echo at the fraction of the cost of a Fulltone TTE

AmpliFIRE, how much would you be willing to let it go? Reply by pm if you prefer. Thx.

+1.
Non-tap version demo:

However, I also wanted the Tech 21 Boost RVB (reverb) too. So for both of these, you are looking at ~$300 new (about $150 each, not sure on the new D.L.A. with tap price either), the Glass Nexus is only $99 more, and does more. If you just want a delay pedal, then for the price (new) the Tech 21 Boost D.L.A. would be my first choice. (but then again, I'm a big Tech 21 fanboi these days, a recent and surprising development to me, and those who know me well! ;)

Oh, and the Glass Nexus / TimeLine have MIDI control, presets store/load which is also a key factor for me.

The Replex looks interesting. It was made to go in front of an amp, right? That's what I gathered from the description on the H&K site. How does it do in a loop with high-gain? I see that it has true-bypass switch. When true-bypass is off, does it trail the delays when the effect is stopped? I think I'd really have to play around with one before I bought it.

EDIT: After reading some reviews and watching some YouTube videos of the Replex, I don't think it's what I'm looking for. Out in front of an amp and with clean to moderate crunch, I can see it being a great pedal. But, for high-gain, I don't it will work very well.

Very interesting pedal, I also dig Tech 21, years ago I was using the SansAmp PSA-1 and truly loved it, they make great stuff.

I already have a chorus and my MXR Micro Amp for boost, so this might not be for me, but truly an interesting piece of gear.

Holy shit those Replex don't sell for cheap! Browsing thru eBay and saw those brand new for $800!

Way out of my price range.

I was really impressed with these two; watch the videos:

HardWire DL-8

Lovepedal Echo Baby Delay

Pretty much all of the better delay pedals are available on that site, just watch the videos to get an idea of what you like.

Thx for the links bro, I am really impressed with both pedals, the Hardwire would totally fit in my price range, and sounds glorious, I'll have to check if I can try this here in Montreal.

My main beef with delay pedals is that I like the delay to trail off when I turn off the pedal. So many delay pedals don't do that.
Get the Digitech Digidelay. They are not expensive and trail......

No problem. Good luck with your search! :)

I'm using it out in front of my Avenger (boosted with an SD-1) and it sounds killer.

Right...but, I'm looking for a pedal I can use in an FX Loop for high-gain.

MXR Carbon Copy is presently working out just fine.

I was using the Boss Space Echo Pedal, very good pedal has reverb and delay, different setting, and you can do some real funky stuff with an expression pedal hooked up to it. I would recommend you at least try this one out. A little noisy.

And yes the Fulltone TTE is the nuts. Sweet sounds.

Formite David Simpson has a vid somewhere using the Fulltone and it is indeed a badass unit!
