Which speakers to get?

Clearly, you haven't played the 80s Marshall Vintages. But, not many have. They're more rare than any other Celestion not named G12M20 from 1966-67.
So, you get a free pass. I've had a few Mesa cabs, both Standard and Traditional from the early 2k range and they are great...with Mesas. Not so much with other amps.

Dad’s got one in a 4010 I’ve been wanting to play on.

The Marshall Vintages are on another level. Creamy, warm, cutting, and aggressive. They are the king of V30. I like Mesa V30’s with my SLO. Greenbacks are better. I need to try some EVH Greenbacks with it.

I'd get a good set of 55hz speakers like Heritage G12H30(55hz), the new G12M 55hz Celestion started making, or Scumback BH55's for contrast with all the 75hz sets you have.
G12H30 is currently my favorite all around speaker. Followed by Greenbacks and in special applications, vintage Jensens. But for a 4x12 I'd probably mix two G12H30s with two Greenbacks or just four G12H30s.

OOOOOOohhhhhhh sell me your Lynch Backs !!
No way. Dont sell to that dude. He's entirely unreliable and unworthy.
But me...
Im solid.

The BM75LDS are an excellent alternative if you find g1265s a bit dark and dull.
Saved my Soldano 4x12, by replacing 2 V30s with the Scumbacks in an x pattern.
Way less harsh, and more musical.

Just got a 2x12 Tremoverb loaded with Scumnicos. Super impressed. Dunno how they'd do in a 4x12, but I'll keep the speakers if I ever sell the amp. And that's saying something.

This. The scumback bm75lds are my favorite modern production speaker in that
family.

They are so, sooo good. Probably Jim's best speaker IMO. If one of the big youtuber dipshits had a shootout video featuring them, they would be all over the place in everyone's cabs. As it is, they fly under the radar and we have the upperhand on everyone who doesn't have vintage celestions.

Yep, they are absolutely fantastic speakers. I prefer both those and the early 90s UK V30s to the 2000s mesa ones that Nolly and everyone shit their pants over. They all sound good, though. Even the chinese ones. There's so much variation, speaker to speaker, that you could end up with a random chinese production V30 that sounds just as good as one of the holy grail iterations... it's just less likely.

I've had great, and not as great, examples of G12 Vintage, Mesa, and Chinese V30s. My fav was an Avatar Hellatone.
But they all sound like V30s, and I prefer 16 ohm to 8 in all of em.

The BM75LDs hit a sweet spot of what you want from vintage g1265s, and modern UK Greenbacks (which I love).
