Who even puts out a guitar mag? Before the web it was cool to look forward to each month. But now, it seems like everything is available online in a disconnected, cyber kind of way. Everything seems like it's a webpage, or a shitty mp3 render of a what was once real.

I do, I still like the mags, it's me holding on to the past   I like having it in a more tangible form. Dunno, the wife buys me a subscription to GW & Premiere Guitar every year.

Still love the British Guitarist.

But it's true, print magazines are a dying breed in general.

We had two major newspapers and a few glossy mags close down already this year here in Germany. I think most of the print titles are surviving on a bubble, where advertisers still believe in print and spend money on it. But this is just a question of time.

One can only hope that there will still be a medium(s), where good journalism can make a living.

I have digital subscriptions to GW and Premier Guitar which I look forward to every month. Still love skipping thru articles to read what gear they're using.
I still miss good ol' Guitar For The Practicing Musician.

Thank God for Barnes and Noble! With my new found poverty buying guitar or car magazines isn't an option for me unless there is some really special content for me.
I used to in the late eighties early nineties actually buy loads of geetar mags, many of which I still use for reference.
But skim reading is more desirable for me and has been mentioned the excellent English mags are available to read with their superior journalistic prowess.

I still get them...my wife keeps automatically renewing all my old subscriptions. I don't read them from cover to cover anymore but I still check them out. Call me a dinosaur but I still prefer hard copy to reading a computer screen.

I buy 'em sometimes at the airport if I want something to read on a flight.

Beat me to it bro..Ill always pick one up if Im flying or taking a train somewhere but I no longer buy them on a monthly basis like I used to. I enjoy it for the most part but I ust dont have the interest to go out and buy them on a regular basis anymore

I still buy the occasional Guitar Player and Premier Guitar mag. Really useful stuff in those ones.

Not only do I still buy guitar magazines, but I also still buy cd's. I'm a dinosaur!

Haha, same here. I also read books. Yep, the ones made of paper. :scared:

I still buy them. I am selective with what i buy. I usually pick up Guitar Player every month because there are some good lessons in there. Guitar World is pretty much geared towards what is hot with 14 year old boys. I really do not care for it much.

This. No joke, a couple years ago, I picked up an issue and there was a one or two page section in it titled "How to dress like 'so and so from gaycore band of the month'"..(can't remember exact band) Seriously...it's a fucking fashion mag now apparently.

I still subscribe to GP, because the articles and reviews are still quite good, IMO. I have one to GW as well, but I'm letting that one run out. I can only take so many featured articles on EVH before I give up.

I do, and only one at that. UKs "Guitarist" is the only one that I feel has worthy content. It's an awesome magazine. Subscription is much better priced than the rack-rate.

Premier Guitar is the only one I still get. I gave up on guitar world, seemed to just recycle the same few artists each time.

I still subscribe to Guitar Player. Gotta have something to read in my "office". :D It's dirt cheap. $10/year or something.

I hit the iPad versions of the other mags pretty heavily. Love the embedded vids and such but they're not usually so cheap. It's easy to get carried away and next thing you know you just dropped $50 on magazines in one go.

I have a subscription to GP. I don't want to play with an iPad all the time.

Besides,

The digital articles lose some of the tone....

I always look forward to my Vintage Guitar mag every month. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this (or I didn't notice it if they did). It's the only guitar mag I will never quit subscribing to. I love their reviews/insights on the old and sometimes weird. The new stuff they look at is interesting too.

The guitar history knowlege they're dropping in there is always great. Also, the players they interview or spotlight are definitely the most interesting and least "cookie cutter" of all the other mags I've seen.

I'd buy old one's from 80's or early 90's, that's about it.
