Who buys guitar magazines anymore?

I buy GW every month still. I like to catch up on issues at the lake in the summer. That mag covers a lot of genres. Sure it has some bad stuff, but so what. One page will have up to date death metal band info, then an ariticle on Joe Perry, BB King, the history of Ibanez, Green Day, Metallica, Beatles, Zeppelin, Animals as Leaders, Deftones, and so on. You can't judge a magazine as a whole because you saw a few articles you didn't like or agree with. That's just being presumptuous and pessimistic. Sometimes people just shut down and put on their blinders when they find something didn't like.

when I flip through a paper version of premier guitar I take my time. when i look at it online im a spaz, click click click.

I haven't bought one is years. I used to subscribe to GFPM and would buy others at the news stand. I used to love getting new issue in the mail and would read it cover to cover. I still have an ass load of them. I don't see the need them these days as you read them online. If you need a cover song you can easily find tabs online

pages of ads and recycled tab. I used to buy them at the airport, but now I prefer to "read" Playboy or the like when flying (aisle seat). I make sure everyone around me or who walks by can see what I'm seeing. I want to make the parents uncomfortable if their kids are being loud or annoying.

Do you jack-off right there in your aisle seat as well? :poke:

+1 on uk guitarist, been subscribed for 2 years now, always well written interesting content and a different feature each month to keep your attention

here's one that's free and all online has some cool things from time to time:

http://www.iguitarmag.com/

I use to spend $50 a month on them back yrs ago. I liked the British mag best and they were expensive when converted to dollars. I still occasionally buy vintage guitar as they are always an interesting read, the problem is most stores like borders books and other book stores went out of business.

One that I never bought was Guitar Aficionado.
Have you guys seen this thing? I ain't gonna hate on guys with $$$$ that happen to play guitar, but its definitely more of a "lifestyle" mag geared toward that crowd. I think I remember seeing Richard Gere on the cover?

Yep. I've picked it up a few times pending on the feature spread and content. Not a usual buy though, UKs "Guitarist" is way more worthy.

I buy GW or GP once in a while depending on the content.

i have a ton of old 80's' GFTPM and
1990s/early 2000s guitar world and guitar player.
i had that other one, for more beginner types, but i forget what it was called....i just read it for the gear review.

Guitar One?

Back in the day, I used to look forward to picking up a new issue of Guitar For Practicing Musician every month. These were the days when they would have full transcriptions of epic tunes like "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "Hotel California" transcribed in full, vocal harmonies and everything.
Now, most of the mags run reprint of the same old tired songs that they used to run 10 years ago, with an odd occasional new song thrown in. I never buy a mag anymore, with the exception of Guitar Techniques, which I pick up once in awhile when they have some transcription or tutorial.

The last magazine I bought was the one in my avatar.

But seriously, back in the 70's-80's and even 90's, there were WAY more popular guitar players on the radio. I may sound old, but today's generic drop-tuned mush music doesn't interest me, and I really don't care how guitar players get that tone, or, what they are using to get it. So, no need to read about it in a mag.

I guess I AM old.

I haven't bought a guitar magazine for yonks. I just don't feel enthusiastic about them nowdays.

If I'm somewhere and know I'm going to need something to read, and someone interesting to me is on the cover then yeah, I'll grab one.

I had STACKS of them, collected em for years.....finally left them in the trash pile last time I cleaned out my storage, and if I buy a new one, I'll throw it away.

Like someone said above, it got old when the integrity died....."4 stars! Platinum Award! Editor's Pick!" Right next to a full page ad for the same thing, telling you where to buy...

I had the ipad subs for guitar world and guitar player and I think Guitar Player changed formats and fucked me out of my last few months...so fuck them. I will never buy it again.

Don't buy anymore but have a big box of GFTPM and GW. Going to start selling them as I am cleaning house. Have 8 copies of GFTPM from its first year. Unfortunately I missed the first few issues.

I don't.

Nothing of interest for me in them anymore.

Maybe once a year I'll see one and pick it up.
