Who wants to play a solo on Rig-Talk members only song?

James - I just sent you updated files for my solo. One with backing, one, just stereo guitar. I screwed up and sent you 120 BPM files the first time, so the solo won't line up with the track if you import it into a 122 BPM session. It is pretty easy to fix, but I figured I'd just send you 122 BPM files since the solo will line up perfectly then... I've checked it out importing the solo and backing into a new 122 BPM project and it works fine...

Sorry about sending so many large files, man!

Steve

Let me write down what I used now before I forget. I used my new Charvel So Cal with a Duncan SSL-5 in the neck and a Duncan '78 in the bridge. Into an Outlier (Evosevic) modded DOD YJM308 overdrive into my Splawn Quick Rod Gear 1-OD1.

Just sent mine in...Jem 77BFP w/PAF Pros into an Axe-FX Ultra using the "Brown" model. Recorded on a Boss BR1600.

Thanks James...very cool thing to do!

I used my Killer KG Prime with and EMG 51/51 set, a TS9, orange tiny terror, randall 4x12 with celestion g12-75's. recorded with a rock band mic through audacity :lame:

Finally sent mine to Jame Slugo :D Had about half an hour to kill, so I did it the quick way and fired up my Pod Pro and Garageband. Guitar was LP Studio. I can't wait to hear everyone's solos!

Here is my track James....just sent this to you both mixed and unmixed.

EBMM Rosewood Axis - Cameron CCV - TG2 Clone/Golden Age Neve Clone - 57's on one Weber 1225 and one Scumback M75.

Thx,
Todd

Just saw this... Am I too late? Earliest I'll be able to record through my big rig is Wednesday the 23rd. :(

Lots of killer stuff posted so far... I'm freaking excited to take a solo (if Im not too late) and to hear the final track!

Hey James,

I sent two versions of a solo. Please use the second one I sent. I believe I marked it as "updated". My first version had an issue with the microphones (as in one of them was not hooked up during recording). The second one I was satisfied with. Thanks again for doing this. I know it is a ton of work.

You're not to late

I wasn't planning on jumping in here (it's the deep end of the pool with some of you guys and I need water wings!) and don't have any recording gear, but my new amp came in today and I got inspired- new toys always seem to do that! Anyway, here's a quick vid. So far I'm really digging the Titan, but haven't fully explored it's tonal range. I should have a chance this weekend.

Oh yeah... recorded with the Q3. I'm playing a Vintage LP Greenie clone with Wilkinson pups through a Bogner 4x12 w/ greenbacks.

Nice video man.

So I'm gonna start putting this together this week.

James,

finally had 2 minutes to send you the files... thanks!

sent two stems,

1 is the high octave panned hard left and right (2 seperate performances)
the other is the low octaves panned hard left and right (another additional 2 performances)

44.1k / 24 bit both of the files are zero'd out so that it will line right up . You can either split the stereo files into mono so you can choose where to place them and etc... or just leave them as is...

cant wait to hear this! :D

James,

Your the best awesome idea, you should extend this to NAMM as a bunch of us will be out in LA and can come by one day and track our solos in the studio. I know myself, Mark Day (SamHillBand), Andy Wood and Carl Roa, Dave Friedman etc... will be hanging and can come by and try to do it one shot and have a good time in the process.

Let me know if that works for you and if you have the time for us knuckledraggers to come by the studio and lay it down.

That would be awesome, I usually host the gearslutz/NAMM party at my studio, if I decide to do it you'all are invited for sure.

James,

You still having this get together at NAMM. We want to crash it.

I guess we won't have to guess which solo is Mark's :D

Some of these solos are coming in stealth as James suggested, others have lessons released on how to play them already.

Sounds great by the way Mark. At one point I used the exact same lick as you did in the 10th position where we are playing 10-13-15 on the e and b and 10-13 on the g string. I call that the Doug Aldrich lick and I stole that one in about '87 or '88 from Doug when he was in Lion. I'm tuned down a half step too. Please notice my solo was sent in a couple of weeks ago so I didn't snag that lick from your video. ;)

I sent mine in on Dec 12th. I posted it on a few other forums and had a few requests for lessons so I did a video :) I hope I didn't offend anyone by not sticking totally to the stealth suggestion, I didn't post any here but I was guilty of posting on the other forums...again I hope I didn't piss anyone off.

I am totally not worried if we did the same licks...there are only 12 notes :) I stole that lick too, or a variation of it from George Lynch probably around the same time mid to late 80's.

Love to hear yours :) Can't wait to hear all the solos...very cool idea that James had and it's such a cool backing tracking that's fun to solo over.

Mark
