So, I have a 1977 MXR Distortion+ pedal.. It's pretty beat up (as you can imagine).

I started the process of restoring it to the original condition, with a couple of minor circuit upgrades..

Namely, full bypass switching, LED indicator, and DC power jack.

I have about 4 or 5 of these. Varying years. All mine are original condition. It was my first ever D pedal and I stupidly got rid of it when I was a kid. So now when I see the old ones I buy them. None have LED s or AC plugs.

My small collection is purely sentimental and for my own enjoyment. I’m not concerned about condition, as long as the guts are original and intact. I wanna say the last one I bought I paid around $300 for. It would be nice to have one with the box restored.

I never liked the tone of this thing.

Got tired of the battery dying while playing. Added a DC power jack in the 80's for that reason.

Sometime later, a guy at a music store told me if I changed the germanium diodes to LEDs it would sound more like Van Halen.
