Dude, a-fucking-men... THIS is the real plight of the local gigging musician.satannica":1imqvopv said:I want to blame myself really.
However, I just seem to have the worst luck in picking band-mates. Completely irrational lead vocalists who believe they are Christ Almighty himself and the entire world, including other bands and promoters, revolve only around them and that they can pull diva moves when they have to compromise.
Added to that drummers who can barely hold 4/4 time and bassists with girlfriends who are suddenly one day either backing singers or band managers.
Those are the bastards who actually show up! Most of the time, getting them to show up to a band practice is rather like aligning the planets.
I think I'm the only person in the world who has actually invested in my gear (decent amps, guitars, etc), a vehicle to transport them with, a willingness to show the hell up and on time, ability to actually put time into actually writing some decent tracks and the ability to recognize that just because a gig is booked, people don't magically show up and that promoting your band is 99% of the challenge.
Throughout my entire music playing career, I don't think I've had anyone who puts in half the effort I do. It is so so fucking demoralizing and frustrating! I often wonder how half these fucks ever picked up a guitar in the first place!
