Discuss. Marshall seem to have come out with alot of crap lately.

I think they are more into mass sales numbers, plain and simple. Not slamming, just offering my marketing 101 opinion.

I agree! Cheap components, I'd rather pay a little more and get a great amp.

I would say that the new Marshalls doesn't really suck. When you look at the great classic amps they made in their first 15 or 20 years... They didn't do themselves a favour. They put the bar more then high enough, for sure.

They are also responding to the price point people are buying to. They have gone the 'more bells and whistles' route with some products. They have also shown concern for 'reissue' amps and older type tone with the Haze, as far as a selling strategy. There is still quite a bit of corn on the cob as far as actually tracking to see if the markets were hit. I played a Haze. Not impressive. I still like a Germino for old marshall. There are quite a few hot rod marshall amps out there in production that have taken the marshall market away from marshall. I had this exact conversation with a sales guy at a music store last week. They don't move new marshalls very well, old ones go quick. Germino's sell well there and they are looking at getting Splawn.

It would be a good marketing research project to see how this all happened if you were in school and had a prof that was nice enough to let you choose a project/company analysis.

Because they are tone deaf. They could clean up simply by buying some modded Marshalls, copy the mods and put out an amp. Could you imagine if they put out a Jose amp? They would sell like hotcakes...but probably destroy sales on their other crap

Agreed!!

I like my JVM, owned it since they came out and and it is a great gig amp due to the features. My modded SLP beats it down pretty good but I still dig it for what it is.

Other than 4-5 builders every other johnnie come lately mod guy would be out of business.

Take both the SLP and 800x and throw the Jose in there with some better iron and done.

Because I say so, other than the JVM i haven't been impressed with any of the new Marshalls, I was excited by the Haze 40 combo, but it's a pile of shit.

Because Jim Marshall Daughter is running the company at this point and almost all of the engineers left a while back and created Blackstar. Add chinese production and cheap parts. At this point marshall is basically a different company.

You're only 16 right? The good Marshall's were long gone before you were born.

Marshall is living off of their name at this point. Although I've heard some pretty good stuff about the JVM 410. A buddy of mine was using one to gig for awhile and it sounded pretty good but I think he's ditched it for an Egnater amp.

The tone suckage is directly connected to your not hitting that ass you have been talking about on the other thread.

Stick the brown eye and you will bond with the brown tone.

I don't have anything against Marshall, but of all the Marshalls I've heard and played, the modern ones lack what the older ones have, IMO.

I hear you. I always try a few Marshalls in Guitar Center. Just can't seem to love 'em. I have loved a few marshall hot rod company amps. Splawn Quick Rod is sweet, Germino is nice. marshall Haze..... left me dazed and confused as to why they released that POS. Was it to compare to an old crate combo or a 'vintage' line 6?

1959SLP Reissue, 1987x, JTM45 reissue, Vintage Modern, HW series and the new AFD. KILLER amps!

Yes, hey are based on old designs but they are new production models and they are all incredible.
