Why doesn't Mesa do Signature amps?

I imagine if they released a tweaked, modified mark series amp made for either Hetfield or Petrucci that they'd sell them faster than they could make them. And a Dave Grohl Recto would probably get a ton of interest.

Looks like they might be starting it, looks like the new King Snake is some kind of limited Carlos Santana signature amp.

I guess they are calling it a "tribute amp"

I think it's because every Mesa amp is like a Swiss Army knife given all the mini switches, EQ options etc.

They'd be hard pressed to find someone who comes up with something they haven't dreamed of yet

Because they know that signature series are for poseurs?

+1 Just another way to shift more units based on slight variations to old themes. Marketing 101.

Well, Hetfield plays mostly Diezel with a little bit of Triaxis mixed in, and Kirk has a Randall endorsement.

A reissued MKIIC+ would be good enough. It seems that if they ever did anything close to a sig amp for the metal crowd, they'd do that one first. As revered as that amp is, I don't understand why they haven't done it yet.

They can't. Parts. Their words not mine.

If they had to substitute a few components to make it happen, most people would not have an issue with that. Where there is a will, there is a way.

They sell enough amps without needing to use sig models to keep their brand moving.

My guess as well. But great question. I agree they would sell a ton more amps that way but no doubt Randall Smith is doing great as is

Could you imagine all the pissing and moaning from the "new age" crowd about having shared tone controls among the amp's channels? Heaven forbid that your clean channel gain have an influence on your lead channel gain. This is why I don't see MESA doing a true IIC+ re-issue. Never say Never, though. ;)

Shared controls - Simple solution: 2 Boss GE-7 (1 loop,1 front of amp), Maxon/ibby 808

Well lets see... given that there have been 5000 metal albums recorded in the last 20 years using EMG's into a Rectifier, I figure it's cause every signature amp would sound the same.... Might as well have given every famous 80's guy a signature JCM 800 in 1986!
There's just nothing unique enough about most guys Mesa tones to warrant anything "signature" IMO.

And yes... Signature amps are for douchebags for the most part.

Unless you have 4 feet to do the stomping (all at once), I can't see how this solution will work.

Mind you, I am a Boogie Mark II owner, and use the EQ AUTO selection on my amp. That is, graphic EQ auto assigned to the lead channel only.

Oh I have a 60w no Eq and no simulcast just verb MK III. I use a RJM RG-16v2 and a RJM RED MMGT (in sig) so 1 button will switch several effect at once. It is divided up with effects up front and in the loop. I mostly just use the GE-7 in front of the amp.

I guess the real trick would be changing channels on the MARK III amp while switching in/out the pedal EQs/effects. It makes my head spin trying to figure out how to wire that kind of mess, MIDI or not.
