Why use a gate if the amp is quite? I find gates to be useless and tone suckers so I avoid them
When I got the wizard, my pedalboard was already setup with what i used with other rigs. So, i just hooked it up to the amp like i did with any other amp. Then I slowly got to the point where i didn't use any pedals with it period. But the gate was fast to go for sure

But one thing. If you listen to ves medic's clip. You can't get the stop and start like that without a gate. Especially recording. In the room, it may sound like start and stop to you, but clips don't lie.

Even if quiet they can be cool for dialing in that tight, quick stop and start thing that sometimes we like to use in modern metal. I can't think of any high gain amp I've tried that stays quiet if you boost it with an od pedal, so a gate is needed to keep it under control. I agree all the ones I've had suck tone to some degree. The Highland Phalanx has been the most transparent one I've tried so far
