Just want to clear this up. I only asked the member I purchased the amp from for $125.00 toward the repair in a show of good faith. He declined to pay me , and I did not file a dispute. He wanted to put a claim in with Fedex However the outside of the box had no damage. One more thing to note, I purchased the amp as "mint and brand new condition" In his eyes the amp was mint and brand new condition. When I looked at the amp the outside of the chassis was scratched up pretty badly. The seller said he was not aware of it and I believe him. Rick confirmed that this amp was a special order "relic'd chassis". He said it's not an issue and I will not be making it one, meaning Rick. If I knew this, I would not have purchased the amp. When I received the amp and plugged it in, it powered up and went dead. I immediately checked the fuses and the mains was blown. I replaced the power tubes, fuses, and rebiased. What I found odd was that there was an 8 amp fuse in the mains when the amp calls for four. This had me suspect. It powered up but definitely had issues. Notes cutting off and not sustaining, bad feedback, etc. The amp could have been dropped by Fedex. One of of the tubes probably shorted and blew the fuse. I have no idea how a winding should have opened in the OT if that is what happened. It happened very quickly(seconds). Usually it takes a little more than that. There was not even any popping noise. It was a difficult transaction. I was not blaming the seller. I was just relaying exactly what I went through with the builder. I did say he took care of me in the end and that he would probably be very cool to talk to on different terms. I can also say I am keeping the amp now that I found out one of the best amp techs around is not to far from me and the awesome guys at Mercury have me covered if I ever need another transformer. They cannot give me a Wizard transformer, but let's just say they can get me very close. I am very carefull with tubes and impedences so chances are I will never need another one. The amp was also not packed very well. It was original packing but the styrofoam was all broken(maybe from the drop) and the amp was not wrapped in the usual plastic Wizard uses(I know this because Rick sent it back completely repacked). The small pieces of styro found there way inside the amp. Maybe the static caused the issues. I really have no idea what exactly happened. I am very happy it is now fixed. It could have been much worse.
There is no way a Wizard MM OT could have blown, there is a guy who is an endorsee and demos the amps at Namm and the amp shows who knows the seller of that amp you bought and says he is a stand up guy.
OK.. I know the amp.. I heard the amp and know the unit before it shipped. The amp was never taken apart here in Tulsa, the amp has marking on it that are routing bit dragged across for machining at the factory.. it is NOT scratched up. We do have pictures YOU sent glip22. Please do not make
assumptions and post these things accusing people indirectly or directly when it is NOT true. NOT COOL.
You have hassled Rick @ wizard repeately.. Just like in this post you still claim you have done nothing to the amp, but you are the first person to open it up and get inside. I know the amp left working,. no blown fuses. perfectly.
edit: your not clearing anything up with this post. you want to drag the seller here into this about the cost of the repair and this person not paying. I don't blame him.
he has nothing to pay for. he offered to do the insurance thing.. you said there was no damage to the box and yet you say the packing was broken.. That is damage and you should have done the shipping company claim.
