Wizard Modern Classic compared to Friedman

I got to chime in here as a MC II owner, I used to even own a MTL MK 1 too. I have never owned a Phil X amp, but the BE100 has been tried and sold, very fun amp to play and definitely more in the dark sounding compressed side of sounds.

I think the Wizard MC II is VERY versatile for taste in terms of bright to dark sound, you can easily dial back the brightness with the obvious bright knob, but I find keeping bright knob at 1 o clock and bringing down the Contour control is where it helps a lot. Treble can be higher for more aggressive sound and Contour dials back the upper mid shelf it effects. All in all, if you think it is too bright or dry, try cutting back contour knob to anything between 10 and 12 o'clock.

I don’t think the X sounds dark but I definitely run the treble and presence hotter on mine than I see on Phil’s settings

Sounds like a hard rock concert every time I fire it up

The phil x attack is more immediate than other friedmans, to me...

But NOTHING compares to the attack, crunch, and clank of the wizard.

Side-by-side, the wizard will make a friedman seem like marshall jvm levels of compression and ‘smear’..

I dont mean that as negative as it may sound about the friedman - some find the wizard TOO brash and immediate to the point of fatigue...

Just really depends on what you want - the X is a very immediate Friedman but not compared to a Wizard.
Dear god man!! What are you saying!!!!?

I don't have a problem with necrothreads anymore. It's far better than having countless new threads about the same topics filling up the feed. Sometimes it also draws back the OP's to update on how things went and where it's at now.
If the topic is the exact same then why reinvent the wheel with duplicate threads and not just continue the conversation.

Just did a 4 hour gig and played only what’s right there. New guitar and same amp I’ve played for 4+ years now. Not changing anything
