Wonder how long before a new axe fx model will arrive???

Hell, the only thing I want to do is control the USB In volume from a knob on the front panel. I’m fairly UI blind; I can’t wrap my head around the gripes about it outside a couple instances when editing from the front panel. If I were told the UI would never be updated in any way I wouldn’t be bummed.

I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea above though, that’d be pretty slick.

It’s going to take a lot to get me to buy a IV, this thing is already doing what I want it to while still giving me surprises after 7-8 years. I’m uncertain how much better the tones can really get and really think the only area left in modeling to improve is the playback system.

I feel the same way about the UI, I think it's fine. And I actually love the UI of the PC/Mac editor. It's brilliant. It only shows you what you ask to see, keeping things as simple as possible but letting you dive as deep as you want, when you want.

I would buy a single space rack unit with only effects. I do not want anything else. Make it midi foot switchable and it’s a win. Of course it needs to be able to run a shit load of effects at the same time with zero latency.

Zero latency is impossible with digital effects due to AD/DA conversion.

The only way you can get zero latency with digital effects is to only use time-based effects like delay and reverb, set them 100% wet, and then put them in a parallel mixer so your core tone is still analog.

That said, you're not going to notice any latency in Fractal stuff.
Empty preset is 1.3ms
Just Amp = 2.3ms
Amp + Cab is 2.3ms
Drive + Amp + Cab is 2.9ms

Even at 3ms... you are not hearing or feeling that. I don't care who you are, you're not reliably hearing or feeling a difference in 3ms.

Do you think they'll incorporate the ability to use profiles?

I agree that I like the front panel UI on the Axe-Fx iii. The front panel is all I've ever used and I became adept very quickly.

Yeah, that's the real game changer right there. Can you imagine a Fractal unit that gave you the ability to use a NAM profile in place of an amp block? NAM amp tone and feel with the Fractal pre/post effects? That would destroy their competition.

Do you find the capture devices to have better feel than the Fractal modeling?

Not always but in some cases yes. If you haven't checked out the NAM profiler yet, you should. It's free and it's amazing. If you use a DAW, there's a plugin too. They're more detailed than the Tonex captures.

Yeah, I have been playing with ToneX and NAM. I find them pretty comparable overall, but have found more good captures for ToneX.

I have thought about playing with capturing my amps with NAM while I wait for IK to fix the capturing with 50xx series GPUs.

I have not been on the Fractal boards in a while, but I would imagine he would only look at a new hardware release when he builds something that’s beyond the hardware capabilities of the current model. The current model has so much computing power, it would take some massive change in the way models are developed.

I have no info, just feel like it’s several years away at least before a new hardware model comes out.

Perhaps a new model with GPU’s so it can have AI built into it might be a direction.

They're definitely working on the next gen of Axe-Fx hardware over there. The Axe 3 came out in 2018, about 7 years ago. Axe 2 came out in 2011, about 7 years before the Axe 3.

Hopefully they'll finally have a VST plugin that can share presets across with it. THAT really ups the game for a lot of users

They certainly need some more storage capacity for the Dyna Cabs. Current hardware is limited in that regard.

Yea, the Axe III is the best 4cm unit I have ever heard or tried. It's brilliant.
