Worst case of G.A.S. you have ever had??

I can think of two times that my GAS was severe. After I had a car wreck, and had to sell off all my gear, I was dying to get an amp after being ampless for over a year. It was right around the time of the Elmwood Modena. I contacted a guy on the forum who was a dealer, and eventually got one. It took a while though, and I eventually got a demo model, so it cost a bit less. At the time, those Modena's were over 3k!! I saved a few hundred bucks and got that demo model, I didn't want to wait any longer. I was dying to get that amp, so I told him that I would take it. I was selling pedals/speakers/mixers/etc to get the amp. I had already sold all my guitars and amps except for one guitar that had too much sentimental value to part with. I saved and scraped for a solid 3 months to get that amp, and eventually ended up liking the M90 better than the M60, but they were cool amps.

Around 7 or 8 months ago I was at a friends house and had a magical moment with his J Custom. It played and sounded magnificent. So, I decided right there and then that I must have a J Custom. I searched and scoured the internet for the right J Custom. I started taking any work I could get. (I am in physical therapy most days so I have to find work when I can) I started dog sitting for my neighbor, watched my neighbors 6 year old kid about 7 or 8 times, house sat(best job by far of all the jobs I did to get cash for the J Custom), and eventually I had enough to score a J Custom. I got a really nice blue top/no fretboard inlays/ J Custom and after all that, I decided it was not the must have guitar I thought it was!! I am usually pretty mild mannered when it comes to gear acquisition, but for some reason with the J Custom, I felt as if I was in a hurry and needed it immediately. Oh, I remember what made it worse!!! I was looking at videos on youtube with J Custom's and came across a Rick Graham vid of him playing an awesome J Custom, and he was killing it, and that made my G.A.S. quite a bit worse. These two times especially, I kid you not, it occupied my thoughts at least 50% of my waking hours. I was obsessing on that Elmwood and the J Custom. It turned into a full blown mission!!

you guys ever get it that bad, where it consumes most your thoughts and actually interferes with other parts of your life because you have checked out and are not paying attention to what you are supposed to?

lets hear it!!! bur, think of those times when you get a new amp/guitar and you plug in and it is just magical!! it is amazing getting one of those pieces of gear that you cant stop playing. for example, I have a Gower Rockmonster here and I have put in 6 to 8 hours a day this weekend alone, no matter how you eq this thing it just sounds great. It is an amazing, amazing amp. I know I have said this at least 4 or 5 times now, but it is true. Everything about it rules. Anyone in the san fran bay area that wants to check it out, let me know!!

Diezel Herbert.

Went to go pick up my Framus Cobra from a guy and he had a Herbert full stack. He gave me a quick rundown on it and my jaw dropped, knew I had to have one.

First time I layed eyes on a Ken Lawrence Explorer. Simply stunning. Then when I owned one, the craftsmanship took it to Cosmos Level Eleventybillion. Waiting on one ATM.

My Sonar drumkit way back when. It was far too expensive, but that never stops a musician :)

GASsing right now for a Mesa Boogie Mk V (or the 25W version) :D Might be one of the worst I've had ...

Im trying to figure out which one I am going to buy right now

I also have Guitar/Gear Acquisition Syndrome, seems theres always one last piece that I need to fill out my rig.

Currently a White LP Custom and one of those new JJ friedmans are keeping my mind quite preoccupied throughout the day.

every day
I've learned to live with it
less harmful than many other obsessions

Lol! +1

Diezel amps have invaded my sleep... I wake up screaming with metal riffs in my head.

Gutierrez Juggernaut, the camo archtop version. Bunch of my friends have em or whatever, and it's taken me years to get to the point where I tried one. Blew me away in sound and feel. I have one more bolt-on that I'm selling at the moment for $ reasons, otherwise I never would.

For the camo Juggernaut, I searched and waited for a long time and two days after I spent the $ on another guitar, one popped up here. I was pissed. So I waited. And waited. And waited. And spent the $ on something else, only to find another camo Jugg was FS on here. Was beyond pissed. Then it happened again, and again, and again.

This has been going on for 3 years, and it's laughable at this point. Every single time I buy a new guitar one of em pops up. It's completely ridiculous. I'm gonna sell the remaining Jugg bolt I have and grab another one from him next year as finances permit. I gotta let the camo Jugg go. It's just never going to happen. Still GAS for it though. I think they look sick as fuck and everything about these guitars is just magical to me...the way they feel, the way they sit when recording, how solid they feel, the riffs I bust out with when playing them that I never do on my other guitars. They're just completely inspiring.

Like most I always am GAS'n over something...but there was this one time....

I was a kid, 12 or so, and I was absolutely without doubt dieing a slow death from GAS. And as a kid, with no job, my folks weren't rich and even if they were, they did not spoil me. (Too much  )...like a lot of kids I knew back then, and seemingly most now; it wasn't like I could go rub out a few odd jobs and scrape up some cash or even go sell something. I was indeed stuck and in my mind dieing slowly, albeit I never had any first hand experience with GAS.

There was a USA made white Strat, white gaurd, maple neck and board hanging in the local mom and pop. Everytime i walked in (guitar lessons every Thursday night), I had to walk right past it. I WANTED that guitar! I had worked (a little) over the summer toting lumber, cutting grass, whatever to wrangle a little cash. I had managed to save up about 2 bills; the guitar was 400$, tax not included of course. I figured one more summer of busting my ass and I could get it....or at least get mom and dad to lay away for me. Then about a month before Christmas of 83, just like that, the bitch was gone! I was convinced I'd die of a broken heart. Little did I know, my old man had snatched it up for me and I got it that Christmas! Best fucking gas relieve, and Christmas gift ever! Still have the axe btw.

BE-100. I saw the Phil X video and I became absolutely smitten with the amp. I HAD TO HAVE IT!
Unfortunately for me, it was also the biggest let down of the century. Wasn't what I expected at all.

I have bad GAS for a US built strat with a Floyd that doesn't cost close to $5000. Ridiculous.
I still have bad gas for a Bogner XTC 101B but I really don't need one.

I think the most GAS I had was for my Les Paul Axcess. Still love the guitar in every way.

For me, it was a Boogie.

ANY BOOGIE!

from the time I was 14 till I got my first at 32.

One time my older sister played a trick on me where she gave me a fake lottery ticket that said I won 5000 bucks.

Instead of freaking out and jumping up and down my first reaction was, "keep this quiet!!! you might have to share and then you wont have enough for that BOOOOOGGGGIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!"

Later in the night she asked me, "so, you didnt win anything on all those scratch-offs?" and I'm all, "nope".

Then she confesses that she threw a ringer in there and it was FAKE!!!

I kept a straight face but excused myself to the restroom to check.

That bitch.

I almost cried.

CCV, and eventually I will run into that POS that ripped me off.

So the amp can't do what he does with it?
How can that be?
So many questions...

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

The second I saw the dar forza and tuzzia protos, I totally lost it. Seriously. Outta my mind. Got on the list and waited. Tried to get each dar that showed up used on this forum. Scored all sorts of killer amps while I waited. Diezel, vht, engl, peters, fja recto/6505, framus, ad nauseum. Worst case of gas ever. And tho I have bought some amps since, nothing ate me up, then totally satisfied me like the dar amps did.
