I picked up a Mesa 2x12 today and while I was there I tried out a Splawn Pro Stock. What a great amp! Chords really sounded nice and had a feel like Malcolm Young of AC/DC hitting the strings. Just really full and clear. I had a Competition years ago and have played thru a ProMod but never that particular amp. Great tone!

I would have taken the Splawn and left the Messy Booger behind.

Scott Makes great amps, very nice build quality and excellent price point....Oh yea they sound good to!

I am honestly thinking on getting the Combo amp he makes ..
Street rod I Think it is called. If you read through his interview with the magazine, he mentions they are gonna offer other amps in combo form.
Man A Nitro in a combo would be crazy cool huh ?

sup hollywood!

Yea man thatd be cool...

Ill give it Scott Splawn, great amps and value... made in AMERICA. THATS WHAT I LIKE THE MOST, a product made here that is great quality... and a guy that will stand by his work...

Good components like heyboer transformers and etc to...

Exactly.... I am an American business owner.
I read on some of these products made over seas and that is fine.
But let's be honest, the true cost of living in the states and even Canada,
are a reflection of things we as individuals can't change over night.
So I think the thing to do is hang in there and buy from our own.
I do admit a guy should buy what he wants from who he wants.
But for me, the whole mess our economy is in,
is only prolonged and or made worse by our consumers continually jumping ship.
I go with what works. ;) And if that can be something that works from our own....
Then that's where my money is going.
If I can't get satisfaction within our own supply of products and from one of our own..
then and only then do I add to the mass numbers buying from abroad..
To each his own......on an individual basis.................Scott Splawn is as good as they get... And I can name another handful of others here and in Canada.....

:) Well the funny thing is that I drove an hour to the Guitar Store to pick up a Bogner 2x12. When I got there, I realized we had a communication issue. Someone at the store said "we have a Bogner oversized 2x12 and what they actually had was the Bogner Goldfinger open-back 2x12 cab. Needless to say, I was sick. :)

It's all good though. I needed a cab with V30s to go with my Friedman-modded Marshall. It gives me a bit of a heavier tone which I was looking for.

I got word earleir tonite that Scott tried to run a Nitro in the combo form,
and it just did not work.
So I guess that idea is out.
But on the other hand, I am sitting here trying to decide,
on color schemes for the new amp and cabs.
I am thinking on a street rod and a Splawn 2/12 cab for it to sit on.
That should make one mean rig and still be very moveable,
without an outright pick up truck, or moving van required.

The pro stock is nice indeed!...I just got a new quick rod and absolutely love it!...It feels the void for a certain type sound I was looking for...and it does it perfectly...I will say that its a very unforgiving amp and needs to be dialed in w/ patience and trial & error---if you take youre time with splawns, you WILL be rewarded with tones that other "marshall tone" type amps just cant quite nail....if you work with it, it'll be your best friend :D

He makes great amps. Period. He makes great cabs. Period. He has great customer service. Period. Regardless of price-point.

You look inside an amp that costs $3k and you will see the same level of components and build as you would in a $1900 Splawn. Scott's amps are not some bargain basement amp that you can say "It's a good amp for the money." It's a great amp. Period. The icing on the cake is the fact that you're getting a boutique amp for the price of a current production Marshall or Boogie... all made by a guy who's not a fucking asshole.

Oh yeah... let's not forget, they sound and feel terrific but they do have a specific niche that they fill and it's not for everyone. If you have a percussive technique and you like killer note separation even at high gain, the QR fit's that bill. If you like a more compressed slippery tone, look elsewhere.

Talked to Scott Monday.
He can't get anymore orders filled before Christmas...
I had my sights set on a Streetrod and extension cab, or a Nitro and 2/12 cab Oversize.
Scott does not build the Oversize cabs any longer...
Just the horizontal 2/12 cabs. :aww:
So I guess it will not be a Splawn x-mas this year after all.
Hey the man's busy...

I want one!

I'm sure scott would be more than happy to take your order!!! hehe =D

I am selling other gear right now so I can order one. Chubtone lent me his Quickrod and I have been having a blast with it. It has tone in an area that my other amps don't cover. It would be a perfect fit for my amp triumvirate!

#1 CA OD2 (Thick OD tone in the lower mids, plus an awesome Hiwatt style clean)
#2 Weber 6S100 (Clean amp, Fender type tones)
#3 Splawn Pro Stock! these kind of tones:

I tried to get a Super Comp combo out of scott . He said it would'nt do the amp justice and could'nt do it . I wonder why he is not doing the oversized cabs anymore
