Ok, forget the 'variables' I mentioned. Play the Kemper through the same cab that one would use for their favorite tube amp. The powered Kemper is what I mean. Play the tube amp through the same cab.
Then, in the room, how does it sound/feel? If it's close enough, great. If not, then move on from it.
Since I simplified it for you, does this make sense?
Depends on how the profile was created. Are you running a profile of a mic'ed cab through a cab? I'm in a band where the guitars are run through a Helix and split at the preamp to two sources. One goes to a Mesa 50/50 and a Recto cab, and one gets IRs to go direct to FOH. I am familiar with this setup.

If you are going to run that experiment, keep apples to apples and DI the speaker out for the profile. I, indeed, would like to that experiment. Just make sure to volume match both sources.

Someone had a kemper for sale in my town on Craigslist I was gonna buy myself for Christmas but it’s gone  I want to try one now

I do think that any of the more popular modelers/profilers are great tools/gear to add to a collection. From my experience in owning the AXE II and playing a Kemper, Helix etc they still can't quite get the tube amp feel. So when these comparo vids come up, it's a joke to me when comparing a recorded tone. Because in this day and age of course you can't tell the difference in a recording. This is captain obvious.
But in the room, there are clear differences. Which is my only point.

you're not wrong. They'll never replace glass and iron until they get the feel in the room right. Sometimes it's kinda close, but it's sure not the same. Not yet anyway.
