I've wanted one of these for years...and finally snagged a pretty good Craigslist deal today...And this guitar is absolutely amazing sounding and playing!
I pondered Red (Firebird) or the regular Black Power Jet (the guy I bought it from, actually had both), but the red one was in really really good just about mint shape, so I decided to grab it...and man, am I glad I did.

I haven't had much time to play it tonight (got home around midnight), but I had a hard time stopping to put it away. As Always, that Great Gretsch Sound!

This is now my 3rd Gretsch, and I wish I never waiting so long to get a Power Jet!

Very nice. Can you describe how it sounds different than your other Gretsch's? It looks like you have a 6120 of some sort sitting next to it.

It's more like a hot rodded Les Paul.
Extremely tight bottom end, not as woofy as the 6120 or tennesee Rose I have.
Extreme clarity from the TvJones powertron pickups...the 6120 has a Tvjones Classic in the bridge, the tenny has Filtertrons, and they have ablot of big low end grind, but this guitar screams, breaks up quicker, but is just really tight and clear, while still having a big low end.
Very cool.
Only tried it with my souped up Marshall so far, so not sure of cleans yet.

Sounds like a really cool guitar and one that I would like alot. I have a Gretsch Brian Setzer Hot Rod with TV jones Classic/Classic+ pickups. Love that guitar, it get sounds I can't get from my other guitars. It may not be versatile, but oh what a sound. The neck only pickup on that guitar is extremely bassy, I generally run it on both or the Bridge only.

Yeah this is definitely a different sound than your Setzer. The Setzer is very similar to my 6120.
The jet is a bit brighter, and crunchier for sure.

cool guitar!! I Have been wanting to try a power jet for a while but cant find one around to try. I like the idea of the gretsch sound but with more balls. I used to own a 6120 jr yrs ago and want to get either a 6118t or a white falcon someday also..
