Here's another killer vid that looks to be from roughly the same era

That's actually the same show. Both clips are from the "Alcatrazz - Metalic Live" home video. Back in the 80's, a friend of mine had a copy of it on Laserdisk (the 80's version of DVD, but they were the size of LPs). I was able to make a copy of it on video tape (yep, Betamax ) and used to watch it religiously.

Excellent playing, but I never got into Alcatraz. Never liked the vocals. They always seemed out of place to me.

That scene in the elevator is soooooooo f'n hilarious. One of the best ever.

Are you referring to the guitar playing, or the way he buttered the toast? I mean, you have to admit, he did not hesitate to attack the toast with the butter knife. Some would say a nice smooth "sweeping" motion was used.

That had to be 1983 or 1984. He flat out ripped! No thinking, just playing. The funny thing is that he was probably at his peak regarding technique.

I saw Alcatrazz in 1983 in LA ( Chuck Landis' Country Club in Reseda) Yngwie was such a showman and just blew everyones mind. Randy had just passed away, and Yngwie reinstilled hope. He was on fire!!
