Yngwie on Beato

I think if you listen long enough to any player you can get burned out. That being said, he burns me out faster than most. Amazing player and inspired millions of course. I saw him in 86 and it was pretty cool

I still love listening to Yngwie. To me his playing is very unique. He’s not just playing notes, he is telling a story with lots of interesting details. I listen to clones any very very few get it right.

I was a huge fan of his early stuff. I think his tone & playing changed a bit after his accident.
Saw him several times in the 80's & 90's, but wasn't a fan after the last time I saw him a few years ago, when he had his band in the corner & they did basically Yngwie Karaoke. Plus he has been super derivative in the last few years, and the production on his stuff is horrible.
Having said that - He seems more grounded & less douchy in this interview than normal.

Yngwie has mastered the art of deflecting and avoiding answering questions. He takes every single question as an opportunity to give his life story about how he first got his guitar when he was 5. He always goes on the same tangent in every interview. We got the story by now! I wish Beato would stop him in his tracks and ask him something else.

I thought it was great. I've been watching and reading interviews with YJM since the 80's. This is probably the most human I have ever seen him. Maybe he is mellowing some with age. He actually seems likeable... I really enjoyed this. Thanks for posting!

Love him or hate him, he is a special talent.
Always a fan of his playing. Like anyone else, he is human and has his good days and bad days.

This was a great interview! Thx for sharing!

His solos don’t burn me out . But his style of songwriting does after the first 3 it just gets weaker and same old shit

His first 3 albums are amazing
Steeler was his 1st album then Alcatraz -pretty sure.

My gripe with Yngw is the use of harmonic minor only. It gets old...........Vinnie Moore will use all kinds of modes invoking various moods and soundscapes to his shred melodies! :m17:

I don’t care for the pre solo albums at all. The songwriting is too cheesy for me . I like vinnie more as well . My only problem is ynqwie like to rick still while vinnie has that sterile Shrapnel production. But don’t get me wrong I still play Day Dream and Picture of a Picture a lot to this day

Best interview I've seen. He seems a lot happier and friendly lately. Maybe age has somewhat mellowed him.
Ya but his crazy interviews are missed . I loved his guitar world articles where he trashed on pantera to Pearl Jam and more . EVH and John Petrucci were like the only 2 he ever spoke positively of

it's crazy, this is enjoyable to listen to, just a guy telling stories and talking. Still really enjoy the first couple of albums.

Hey, that was a really good interview. I love Yngwie. I bought the first Rising Force album because of the album cover and when I got it home, I was blown away! Far Beyond the Sun is still a favorite.

Yngwie is the perfect rock star. He’s never out of character because that’s who he really is. My friend’s cousin met him in a store. Yngwie was just shopping, in full gear. Leather pants, jacket, chains, sunglasses and full hair. Looking at vitamins or something. He was more than happy to get a picture with anyone that knew who he was. I honestly want to be Yngwie.
