Used Jackson, EVH Stealth HT or a Schecter KM6.

Not really a ton out there that fits your criteria that you don't already own, Mike. My go to for those specs would be a Horizon and you already have it. I'd look at the KM6, but you're going to want to upgrade the electronics more than likely. Other than that, fits. Maple, ebony, locking tuners, decent bridge and pickup although the Black Winters are going to be pretty hot compared to what's in your ESP.

Got this bad boy with the case for less than $1000.

Used Jackson SLSMG: Super-lightweight mahogany hardtail body, ebony fretboard, neck-through design, EMGs pickups (alternate versions come installed with passive pickups easily swap-able for Seymour Duncans.

These can be found at decent prices on Reverb/eBay. NEVER AGAIN will I overpay for an ESP guitar.

That looks perfect for modern heavy stuff.


And what's the deal with Kiesel? Is it just Carvin?

Easy choice for me - you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a used Soloist in that range.

This is the 4th or 5th person to say this. they are great guitars. I know, I have one. I am looking to try something I don't already have. the Horizon is a great guitar, no doubt. I really dig mine, a lot!
