On a more serious note, I had a Peavey Classic 30 rebuilt by "Ho" in Vancouver - you know, custom caps and filters, this and that, etc. - new glass, and a Celestion Alnico Gold. That was it. This thing sang with the best of them... It was a superior sounding clean amp, had a studio cat use it and he swore it was up there with a Matchless - interesting to imagine.

Anyway, it did have the sweetest clean tone I'd heard, and was blissful in near-breakup mode, but I rarely used it, being an RT kinda a guy and all (LOL), so I sold it. My buddy who bought it has gigged with it, and peeps have asked him what kinda amp it is... I guess the legacy continues.

Just sayin',
V.

Deluxe Reverb
XTC 101b
Shiva 6L6
All Boogies
Triamp
Egnater Renegade

My Groove Tubes Trio Preamp through a decent poweramp kills for cleans.

But Plexi cleans are hard to beat, so I opt for vintage Marshall.

What is this "clean amp" of which you speak?

Fender Super Reverb.

In terms of heavy amps, the best clean I've heard is definitely Ch. 1 of the Diezel Herbert. Beautiful!

I've been using my modded DSL for the past 6 years or so. In the past few months I've also been using my V-Rock which has great cleans.

Matchless, hands down
Had a buddys for a month, very very cool cleans with a unique character and feel
absolutely superb

Fender Bandmaster Reverb for my standard clean sound
Fender Brown super for clean with a little muscle and authority
Vox AC50 for clean with some jangle
Mesa Mark IVA for clean with some versatility, kind of a dark clean how I have it setup.

Marshall Silver Jubilee 2553 (just kidding, not much clean on this amp, unless you are using Single coils.)

Have to agree with alot of this, not exactly the same amp/model choices but definitely in the ball park. Lots of different cleans to like out there and Ive never been able to reproduce them all with one amp

Whatever Eric Johnson uses.

Although Mesa Lonestar's are nice.

Of the amps I've owned, I loved the clean with my Mod50 T/D mod into the Mod 2x12. For absolute cleans it just had a depth that I hadn't heard from any of past rigs. After that comes the late 90's Peavey Ranger 212, and then a mid 70's fender twin. Surprisingly the peavy had an incredible clean channel.

Fender and AC30.

My Natas clean is stupid good with monsterous overhead.
