Hi, just curious to what you guys are using. Would like to not have to drill anything or modify modify guitar(2013 Les Paul). I hear the schaller ones will or will not use the gibson screw....just wondering. Thanks!

I use Schallers and your are correct, they have their own screw. I'm not sure what locks would work with stock screws. I wouldnt worry too much about that minor modification. If you're hell bent on not modding, get some Grolsch beers, enjoy and use the rubber washers on the caps with your stock strap pins.

Use the bigger screw, but place threaded end into cordless drill and run it with the edge of screw head against some sandpaper. It "narrows" the head enough to allow it to fit into the button, but has the larger threads to hold it more securely.
ie. Use the bigger screw, but alter the head to fit inside the button.

Sometimes you also have to drill the hole "one size up", with another drill bit, to accommodate the threaded end......but sometimes you don't.

I don't know that they're the "best" by any means, but I've been using standard issue Dunlop Straplocks on my Les Paul's for probably 15 years now and on countless gigs, never had any issue with them.

Sure do appreciate it ya'll. I hear good things about both the dunlop and schaller ones though I did read that some maintenance is required on the schaller but that's no problem.

Actually I'm kinda intrigued by this as well, lots of good word about them online:

Yes I'm a fan of Yngwie lol, but I have no desire to spin the guitar around lol....just want to keep my Les Paul from crashing to the ground...videos like this guy swinging the guitar around always make me cringe, but the strap looks sturdy:

I use Dunlop strap locks on all my guitars. I find them easy to use and secure enough for me.

I used to use Dunlop's but they wear out and expensive Les Paul hits the ground, so Ive switched to Schaller

OMG :  :

I use the Dunlop 7000 Lok Straps. Put the strap on, place the lock over and twist. Can buy a bag of them for cheap. Work with any strap and button. I used to to use Shallers, but got tired of them eroding away or needing to tooth pick the screws.

I just use a large metal washer now. Have had both Dunlop and Schaller and prefer the Dunlop.

That's why I switched to Schallers as well. A Les Paul to the top of your foot tends to change your opinion on things.

That's why I preferred the Dunlop. Had them longer than the Schaller and had the nut fall off the Schaller (have since used lok-tite) and never had a single issue with the Dunlop.

I've been using dunlop strap lok's for 10 years without problems..
