Your top ten Iron Maiden songs

Wrathchild
22 Acacia Ave.
Losfer Words
Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner
Flight of Icarus
Back in the Village
Stranger in a Strange Land
Seventh Son
Aces High
The Prisoner

When I was in Jr high my mom bought me Number of the Beast. Pretty much sealed the deal right then & there.
Way to tough to pick a 'top' ten. Steve Harris is like a metal messiah.

Tough one! Here goes:

• Aces High
• Be Quick or be Dead
• Sanctuary
• Hallowed Be Thy Name
• Die With Your Boots On
• 2 Minutes to Midnight
• Back in the Village
• The Evil That Men Do
• Sea of Madness
• Stranger in a Strange Land

Honestly though, this is one band that has SOOOOOO many! It's like asking your top 10 Priest songs!

Damn guys... you DO know that Maiden have put-out some killer albums in the past 15 years, right? Looks like most of your lists stop at Somewhere In Time. Peace of Mind will probably always be my favorite album of theirs (as I got into them about the time it was released). Like many I sort of fell-away from following them after Somewhere In Time or 7th Son. But I picked them up again starting with Brave New World in 2000, and I listen to the new albums more than the old ones.

At any rate... it's hard for me to pick just ten from their entire catalog... so I'm gonna post-up my favorite ten of the past 15 years. If you're unfamiliar with some of these songs, then you owe it to yourselves to check them out. Maiden is still AWESOME and still rocks the shit out of most other bands on this planet! I saw them in Denver in June of 2010 and it was one of the best shows I've ever been to in 30-some years of concert-going.

My top ten list of the past 15 years of Maiden (with a little commentary):

Brave New World (check out the Rock In Rio performance of this one)

Paschendale (this song flat-out ROCKS HARD)

Coming Home* (as a pilot myself and lover of all things aviation... I LOVE these lyrics)

Blood Brothers (it was almost inspirational to be part of the entire amphitheater crowd singing-along with this one)

The Wicker Man (rocks almost as hard to Paschendale)

Dance of the Death

These Colours Don't Run

The Longest Day

Isle of Avalon

Final Frontier

The Talisman

Seriously... check these newer songs out! (Albums are Brave New World, Dance of Death, Matter of Life and Death, and Final Frontier.)

UP THE IRONS!!!

*And long live Cap'n Bruce and Ed Force One!!!

Ed-Force-One.jpg

Will checkout some of the stuff mentioned.

Awesome! Please do!

I had written Maiden off after Seventh Son. But one day I stumbled on the Brave New World album and I was like "WHOAH!!!". Seriously, it was like rediscovering them all over again. I've loved the hell out of most everything they've done since. And Bruce is probably my favorite music personality right now (and has been for years). The guy is just bigger than life. He does EVERYTHING. Planes, trains, automobiles, tanks, history and war buff, fencing, writing, broadcasting... lord only knows how many things I've left out of my list.

The Wicker Man - Rock In Rio 2001... (skip to after 4:00)

And one of my favorite Maiden tunes, period!

Hallowed Be Thy Name
Where Eagles Dare
22 Acacia Ave
Stranger In A Strange Land
Revalations
Run To The Hills
Wasted Years
The Trooper
Flight of Icarus
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

As said before it's tough....but
1) Phantom Of The Opera
2) Strange World
3) Infinite Dreams
4) Back In The Village
5) Still Life
6) Children Of The Damned
7) Be Quick Or Be Dead
8) The Evil That Men Do
9) The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner
10) Rainmaker

I listen to all the newer albums, but for the most part don't care much for them. Good stuff, and I'm glad to see they're still ruling the world while sticking to their guns. It's just hard to compare with the classics they've written. I'm also not a fan of the new choruses repeating the same line 8 times either.

If ever a band stayed true to their roots, it has been Iron Maiden. They occupy a lot of GB's on my playlists. Timeless music.

1- Ghost of the Navigator
2- These Colors Don't Run
3- Die With Your Boots on
4- The Evil that Men Do
5- Only the Good Die Young
6- Caught Somewhere in Time
7- Wasted Years
8- Aces High
9- Fear of the Dark
10-The Longest Day

Great songs listed....but sorta surprised no one listed this one.

Yup. Great stuff! Really surprised that so few have given the newer Maiden stuff a chance. A thorough listen to any of the last several albums should convince people that they're not mailing it in ala ACDC or just being weird ala Rush. Speaking of Rush, I've been a huge fan for 35 years and consider them to be my favorite band of all-time, but I'd MUCH rather listen to the last several Maiden albums than the last several Rush albums. Everything since Counterparts has been very difficult for me to gel with.

Well said.

Wrathchild was the tune that got me into these guys. Always loved this video back in the day.

Holy crap if this doesn't sound like Maiden.

I was thinking that sounded like a cross between Maiden (def. vocals) and Helloween (also vocals a bit and guitars/ double bass drum back beat)

is it just me or does every iron maiden song sound like the theme from bonanza? or was it big valley??

That's wacky. I have some of their older stuff (and some of the Avantasia stuff as well), but never really heard Tobias sound that much like Bruce before. Kinda cool and weird at the same time.
