Your Very first Concert.......

My favorite topic. 1978 I spent the night in front of the LA Colliseum. It was April 78 The California World Music Festival. Cynthia Fox and KMET MC'd. Cheech and Chong were there. It was Toto, REO, Mahagony Rush, Outlaws, Head East, Cheap Trick and Ted Nugent. The next night Aerosmith headlined and Van Halen was right before them. I cant imagine spending the night out there now.
 
My parents took me to see Elvis when I was about 7 in 1976. My first concert I went to on my own was Ratt on the Invasion Tour with Bon Jovi opening.

It was cold & windy and they were pretty awful. Plant was throwing pills and joints into the crowd from a big plastic garbage bag and they tried this big intro to Stairway with pink smoke and doves flying from stage... of course it didn't quite work in the wind. :lol: :LOL: Still a great first concert memory though. Shame you came that close and missed 'em.
 
I got you all beat. My mom took my brother and I (I was about 5 or 6) to see Shaun Cassidy in an arena around 1976 or so. I fell asleep during the 2nd song and my mom woke me up when it was over. :lol: :LOL:

Me too...1985 Invasion Tour...Ratt w/ Bon Jovi + Mama's Boys...not surprisingly, Bon Jovi blew Ratt off the stage (this was during the 7800 degrees fahrenheit tour before they BLEW UP with Slippery WW). Funny thing is, what I remember most about that show was the guitarist in Mama's Boys did this real cool thing with a violin bow on his guitar ala' Jimmy Page.
 
Sorry I can't show off with great RAWK concerts or anything.

My first concert was when my elder sister took me to see Eurythmics in Strassbourg, 1986 when I was 15. But I was just floored with everything, and Dave Stewart is surely a pretty underrated guitarist!

Pretty soon after that I saw the Scorpions though :rock:
 
1986 AC/DC Who Made Who tour I want to say Queenryche opened but can't remember now.

I was 16 and had to go with my brother. :)

I swear I was in the 3rd grade but that would have put the show in 75/6 and SC didn't release his debut LP until 77?
Did he tour before the record like on the release of his single?

Cmon there has to be some Cassidy fans here..... :rock:

It was that 80's come back tour when they played that song 'These Dreams' and Ann was very large.
I waited through all their new pop songs to hear Barracuda and Magic Man. :aww:
 
Pat Travers/Rainbow 81'... It impacted me straight between the eyes.
 
Judas Priest on the Screaming For Vengeance tour - it was me, my mom, my aunt and my grandma - they've never been the same since... :lol: :LOL:
 
I still remember the moment between Yngwie and AC/DC....
house lights on....some lame background music...
then the Arena just went DARK....crowd went nuts...
The opening Chords of FLY ON THE WALL came out thru the speakers....like 5 times louder then Yngwie was.....
Spotlight flashes to the stage....Angus....Super long hair...probably damn near to his waist...
was on the stage freaking slamming out the chords!
Man....get goosebumps just thinking about it! :rock:
It blew my fragile teen aged mind.... :yes:
 
This one hurts!! Mine was the Bee Gees :cry: around 1976, I was the coolest 4th grader in school. To make it even better I went with my Mom and Grandma. Grandma plugged her ears for the whole show!! :lol: :LOL:

It's funny how most of us are in the same general genre of music and era for first concert...

My first was either:
Van Halen Diver Down (with Coney Hatch or Rose Tattoo opening)...cant remember.
or
Iron Maiden with Rainbow and 38 special.

Both concerts were within a week of each other and I can't exactly remember. I do remember Rainbow being extremely loud and Richie tossing his guitar about halfway through the show - prematurely ending their show.

Those were the days in Cleveland, when there was a major concert about every ten days.

I saw that tour at the forum in Los Angeles. Ynvie tore it up but ACDC gets like full sound and a half.

That's awesome. I've seen Edgar and I've seen Johnny a few times, but never together. I would've loved to have seen either of them with Derringer (I saw Derringer a few times.)

I did not know anything about them at the time, I really went to see Montrose ;) I was 9, I think. My first exposure to a cranked Plexi ever :rock:

Ronnie Montrose KILLS! He was one of my Idols... What a player with chops & feel & vibrato... They were aweome! A young Sammy Hagar on volcals... I got the fire, Black Train, Space Station # 5

OMG! Still some of my favorite Music! :thumbsup:
