Hey guys I have been using a AxeFxII for Fx with my VH4 with great results running it in the loop, I use the Axe for MIDI control of the VH4 also.....I have it set up like this-- MFC101--->AxeFx via Cat5 cable then from the MIDI out/threw to the MIDI in on the VH4, works flawlessly!!!!

Ok same set up but with a Herbert and I cant get anything saved in to the Herbie, its seems to be receiving some MIDI info from the AxeFx because the light above the store button blinks when I step on any of the switches on the MFC101, it is also blinking in time with the tempo light on the AxeFx the whole time they are connected, I just cant get nothing saved.

I step on a button on the MFC101, select the channel I want on the Herbert and then hit the store twice, but nothing sticks!!

Any Ideas???

If there is no switching you should adjust
the amp to omni mode. Please see manual
on our website.

If the amp is switching AND not store able
send me an email:

Peter, I tried switching the amp to omni mode like the manual has it written but it doesn't seem to be going to omni, after doing what it say's the Ch.1 and mute lights flash instead of the mid cut, master 2, loop and store lights.

As of now I have no MIDI channel switching.
I can make a video for youtube if that would help troubleshoot this.

****update****

It is changing channel's now but some times I have to hit the button a few times before it changes, every time I hit a button to change channels the store light blinks so it seems to be getting MIDI info every time I step on a button it just dont change.
I hooked it all back up to my VH4 and it works perfectly still so I dont think I have a problem with my controller.

Hey guys I have been using a AxeFxII for F/x with my VH4 with great results running it in the loop, I use the Axe for MIDI control of the VH4 also.....I have it set up like this-- MFC101--->AxeFx via Cat5 cable then from the MIDI out/threw to the MIDI in on the VH4, works flawlessly!!!!

Ok same set up but with a Herbert but its not changing channels consistently, when I step on the button I set up for channel 1 on the amp some times I have to step on it a few times before it actually changes the channel on the amp same thing with the other buttons I have programed for the other channels on the amp, sometimes it changes right away but most of the time I have to hit the button a few times......I know the amp is getting MIDI data every time I hit a button because there is a light that light's up when MIDI data is being received, that light is also blinking in time with the tempo light on the AxeFx the whole time they are connected, I just cant get nothing saved.

Ok so this is what I tried, I took the AxeFxII out of the equation and hooked the MFC 101 directly to the amp via a MIDI cable and it worked perfectly, its like the Axe is sending to much data or something because the amp responded a lot faster to just the MFC101, the light on the amp that show's MIDI communication lights up for just a split second with just the MFC101 and when the Axe is hooked up that light kinda flickers a bit before changing the channel, if it changes it.

Anyone have any ideas?
I feel like this is a setting the Axe I need to change, hopefully!
Here are some pic of my current MIDI settings

Hey Minds Eye.........

I have An Axe FX II question for you. Although I have a nice fleet of tube heads and cabs, I am unable to record them the way the should be......miked up and loud! But.....I can't because my wife works from home and that would most likely make her jobless.

That said, I had an Axe FX Ultra and was going to use it for direct recording and honestly, I was very disapointed, I actually did not dif it at all.........and I thought I had done my research.

Now with all the hype and some better demos I have heard on youtube of just the patches right out of the box, I must admit I am very impressed. My question to you is what is your opinion of the sounds/patches right out of the box going direct? If I did get an Axe FX II, it would be strictly for recording purposes.

Thanks

Jim

Ill be honest Jim the AxeII was my first Fractal product I am not a big record at home guy so I just dont have that much time into using it for that.
That said I do use it all the time at home for jamming and practicing threw some cheap M-Audio near fields and I really enjoy it for that and find the tones "inspiring" for lack of a better term when playing my "real" amps isn't an option.
For what you want the Kemper may be a better choice, I have never used one but they get ton's of great review's, that said I think the fan boi's from each company really run-a-muck of what both boxes can do and what their short coming's are also.

I have used my Axe a few times direct live with great results and really good feedback from soundmen but at this point I still like the sound and feel of my "real" amp on stage....for now..... the Axe is ever evolving and with every FW it gets better but for now my Diezel's are not going anywhere!!!

You can buy each unit with a very nice return policy so that's what I would recommend to see what works best for you!

Good luck!!!
