are these pickups good?? better than EMG' bareknuckles.. you know high output pups.. are tehy good for good metal tones... if so which ones.. thanks

I have one in a Jackson PC1 and love it. It has a strong output with a PAF feel. It's retains clarity even at high gain, it's also sensitive to pick dynamics. I love the response and attack I get from the Aldrich.

It's a high output pickup that behaves like a lower output pickup.

I was a EMG user for YEARS!
Until I played my buddies Suhr loaded with Aldrich Pickups thru my Diezel VH4.
It was a WOW
Moment....big difference. Just such a great BITE to them. And yes I play mostly metal.
Bought one and havent looked back. ;)

Just to clarify. I don't play metal. Heavy rock and all kinds of mid gain stuff. Cleans (hairy), Slide. All over the map, and I LOVE the Aldrich. Cleans up GREAT. Splits well. Sounds huge in a Stratocaster.

I just got my Aldrichs and a seymour duncan triple shot in my LP Trad. Played it thru my chupa last wednesday in a band situation and got compliments on how full my sound was.tho i didnt split them at all that day for some reason.

Do for me,LP with Aldrichs,Chupa thru Splawn with v30s=win!

That was another reason I went with the Aldrich....good for metal but EXCELLENT for Hard Rock tones.
Cleans up nice with a simple volume roll on the guitar.
I am glad I switched.

I hope you aren't talking about your avatar

Nah....just another day taking naked pics in the bathroom...

Played EMG's and Seymour Blackouts
for years. Also Seymour JB and Bareknuckle
Painkiller in my other guitars. Something was
always a bit off to my ears, the Painkiller had
this off Midrange thing that I just couldn't jive with.

As soon as I installed a set of Aldrich's
in my LPC, that was it for me!! All the other
Pup's have been sold off. The Aldrich was the
sound in my head and I love it!!
Kept the JB to install in another fiddle,
gotta love a "Classic"

Aldrich pups would make an already bright les paul hard on the ears would'nt they ? These are best installed into darker guitars yes ?

I used Bareknuckles for close to seven years or more. When I got my Suhrs I had no desire to swap the Aldrich. Works for me both clean and mean and in between.

I think Aldridge work best in LP's.

Put in Aldrich in a Anderson Mahogany body and man does it have such a BALANCE tone wise.
Have no desire to even check out another pickup. Such a Growl and Bite and they have a voice where seems my EMG's were just in SMASH mode all the time.

Didn't like them at first. I expected something over the top as far as output and grind.
More like a Hot PAF. Ive since grown to love them. Great cleans too. Ive replaced all my pickups
with the Aldrichs. If there are any cons, maybe a little boomy on the low end

okay well i have emg's 81 in all my guitars except my tele i have a GFS crunchy rails and man those sound killer.. i was thinking about bare knuckle's but then i ran across the suhr aldrich pickup and everyones great reviews.. something about the GFS crunchy passive pup i like better than the EMG 81.. i think i will try the aldrich in my PRS se to see and if i like them i will sell all my EMG's and replace with suhr pickups...

how would you compare them to the GFS crunchy rail.. i know the GFS pickup is super cheap but they sound great to my ears.. if anyone can chime in and let me know a comprasion between the 2 that would be great.. im sthinking a getting a strat with HH but if i cant i will route out for humbuckers.. im wanting to steer back to the passive world of pickups again.. they seem richer fuller, jsut alot better.. for some reason.. please and thanks

One of the best if you ask me. I have them in my Suhr and had them in a few Pauls. Only other pickups I love just as much are the 80's JB and distortion.

Have you ever tried a Tremonti Treble or SC250 bridge pick-up? I wonder how the Aldrich compares. I like the pick-up in my PRS, but it's a little dark and lacks the snarl I'd like to hear. I want something with a little more growl and bite as you have described and have been thinking about the Aldrich, but I'm not sure if it is all that different than what the Tremonti is (and maybe my guitar is just on the darker side). I know the BK painkiller sounds killer as I have one in my other SC. I just want to find something different for this guitar.

Man, I must be tone deaf, extremely lucky or just easily satisfied. I don't really have a pickup preference. I haven't played many but maybe i've had good ones. My first real guitar was a 1985 Kramer Baretta with a SD JBJ. Always loved the way it sounded and never had a desire to change it. After that, I bought my Charvel Model 88 and while I thought the pickup was a bit weak at first, as soon as I took off the Jackson pickup cover it sounded way better. Satisfied. I have a guitar with a newer JB in the bridge, A Fender Cyclone with the stock Atomic humbucker and for a while I had an EMG81 in there. I even just bought a Squier Cyclone with a no name stock pickup and it sounds mean. They all sound fantastic. I just recently bought a Painkiller to satisfy my curiosity and it sounds damn good too. Though not better or worse than the rest of them. They all do sound a little different but not night and day to my ears. The Painkiller is a little tighter and dryer than the JB. The Atomic is a little more saturated and a tad smoother. The cheap no name in the Squier is mean and has a killer grind. I've read about the Suhr Aldrich pickups and from the description they sound fantastic. But I think I'm already getting what they are supposed to offer. I'll try one sometime. After all, it's pretty much the only other pickup that has me really curious.

got an aldrich in my mahogany maple top body suhr modern tuned to drop-c and it's a fantastic sounding pickup! I especially like the spilt modes when clean... but who plays clean?
