So, I made an offer on a guitar on Reverb 12 hours ago, and have heard nothing. The way people are flakey these days, they may never answer, (no, it wasn't a low-ball). When I get low-balled, either A, it's automatically rejected, or B, I decline swiftly.

So, my question is, if another item pops up that you want, do you jump on it, or wait to see if anyone responds to your first offer, since you're technically obligated to buy it if they do accept..

Just gauging what others' opinions are on the "24 hour rule". It sucks, because there's actually 3 guitars I want on Reverb, and have the cash.

You made your bed, lay in it and wait it out or be prepared to buy two guitars if both are accepted.

Yup, gotta wait.

Yeah, I plan on waiting. Just sucks knowing they may not even respond, and wastes your time.

Send them a message. Tell them if they arent going to accept you have something else lined up.

This. And, if they still don't respond put an offer in on the second and skip the dude who is ignoring you. Screw em.

I think 24 hours is a completely reasonable amount of time to wait. If you're not comfortable waiting literally a single day then pay the asking price and skip the waiting process. I find it annoying when people make an offer and then send me "are you going to accept or not" follow up messages. Especially considering that I'm not a company and that I have a full time job where I usually don't get a lunch break, so if it's a borderline offer I might not get to take a minute to think about it for 12-18 hours depending on when the offer was made.

Now that said, every follow up message I've ever received has been on borderline low ball offers and never like "hey man just wondering if you saw my offer?" They're always pissy/bitchy sounding so maybe that's why I'm so bitter about it haha.

I honestly think 24 hours is pretty fair. You have to realize that not everyone is glued to their phone/computer, etc.

Iike the commitment to buy from a seller perspective because then you would get people with offers on your stuff and them flaking. I wouldn't ever sell on there if that were the case.

Really 24 hours isn't that long, and if you feel it is such a good deal and cant live without it, go full price.

24 hours is reasonable. I always wait on offers because they tend to come in bunches, and occasionally someone comes in higher than the initial offer.

Most sellers on Reverb are people with full time jobs and lives, too. There have been times when I just didn't have time to check the bid until several hours later.

I have a guitar on there I haven't touched in months. Sunday morning a guy sent me a bunch of questions about it while I was sitting in a restaurant. I knew it was going to be a few hours before I got back home to look over the stuff he asked about and then what I had into the guitar to decide how flexible I could be on price. This has happened when I was on business trips a few times too. 24 hours is totally fair.
