I was replacing some preamp tubes last night when I bent one of the connectors in a tube socket. Is there a tool that I can use to get in the tight space to bend it back? I'm thinking one of those tooth scrapers like dentists use, but I probably need something with a smaller hook on the end.

Hey man, don't fret this isn't a big deal, but it depends how badly it's bent, if it's really hammered in there because I've had it to, sometimes there's not much you can do and you just gotta replace the tube socket, which thankfully is a pretty easy task on some amps. What kind of amp did this happen in?

Sometimes you can bend them back into place, but I had a socket replaced in my Diezel because of this exact thing, you just need something really fine to kind of get it back into position, mine literally some how folded over on it self was just odd.

It's in my VH4S. Looks like it's almost doubled over.

I took out the chassis and looked at the underside. I have some experience with soldering, but zero with soldering on a circuit board. Now may be the time to learn. ;) If I do need to replace the socket, do you have any suggestions for what I should use?

Hey man, you should post on the Diezel forum and ask what they think is the best option, but I believe the one we put in mine was

my tech said he ordered a few and picked the one that matched the best, I'm sure Peter will steer you in the right direction!

I'm sure all you need is a solder removal tool, either some solder removal braid, or a solder sucker, and just make sure you don't go crazy with heating the board to much!

If you have not soldered on a pc board before, its tough. You might find somthing laying around (anything really, old tv, radio, satt reciever) and make some practice runs to figure out how much heat you need before you attempt it on the VH4
