Does anyone know what amp Vito used on Pride album? The song Hungry? My guess is a boss sd boosted jcm800 ?
I dug this album out after seeing this thread and it brought back a lot of memories but mostly reminded me of how great Vito was. Maybe not as great as EVH overall, but he could do Eddie's stuff + more.

Too bad they couldn't keep it together. 'Hungry' was one of my favorites. I was checking out some of their videos last night and ran across a Youtube vid of the 'rise and fall of White Lion'. Looks like Vito and Mike did not see eye to eye and was probably doomed to fail from the start.

That plus '90s

Otherwise, good stuff.

You know of Steve Lynch from Autograph? Him and Vito drank from the same fountain.

Hey Splawndude ! Yeah Vito was incredible. Super melodic and smooth with great tone. He is one of those players where you can identify him right away after hearing a clip.

It's too bad he stopped playing. Such a talent.

At the tail end of said video they said that something happened to his left hand (maybe) and rendered him unable to play. Arthritis or something don't remember. That would really suck if that was your love in life.

Here it is:

I have Big Game and Mane Attraction too - going to get those out next.

I'd read he was practicing while lounging in a weird position and ended up tearing a tendon or something in his wrist.

When I was a kid, the owner at a guitar store let me play a Marshall JMP-1 preamp through a Mesa Boogie power amp. It sounded very Nuno to me. I remember telling me him that I loved Nuno's tone.. so he said, try this and tell me how you like it. I liked it. Pornografitti also had a BBE sonic maximizer on it for more pop so add that to the recipe too.

I guess we never really know unless there are really good notes taken. I trust Wagner.. but I also trust the PQ-3 as PaulyC mentioned. I really wish someone would reissue that or do that in a pedal. Still waiting on Friedman to do it!

I've owned the JMP-1, the ADA Mp1 , many 70's and 70's Marshalls and sob I never played anything like Vito or Nuno! Bummer! Definitely 2 of my idols. . I've met guys who can play exactly ike that, and it really doesn't matter what gear they use. Last few times seeing Nuno/Extreme and Generation Axe, etc he had Marshall DSL50's the was using (although there were his signature Washburns all over the stage and man does he sound great. I could never nitpick these guy's tones, as every friggin note they play is beautiful to me! p.s. Many guys used the ADA MP1 and sounded killer though it from Vito Bratta to Nuno to Queensryche to our local touring cover band guys in the 80's and it always sounded great through great PA's..

It’s fun to guess the equipment used on tunes, but I don’t see how anyone can remember what was actually used. I’ve done 2 cd’s of my own and couldn’t tell you exactly what I had on each song and I’ve done a couple of YouTube songs and couldn’t tell you 100% what I used on them and that is recent. There was so much experimenting and recorded tones are different from what I play 99.99% off the time (rolled off bass, peaked mids, less gain, etc…)

I guess Tone is just where the heart is that day.
