Whoa!!!! The price of Mesa amps has gone nuts!!

Years ago I bought Les Paul standards for $500 and JCM800 for $400....it was the going price back then.

I expect the prices of Mesa and many other amps to keep going up.
Yeah, exactly. Where are the 60's Plexi's for $400 now? Where are the 60's Plexi's for $1500 now? Where are the 60's Plexi's for $3000 now? Where are the 60's Plexi's for $5000 now?

Prices on these things don't ever return to the prices we all got comfortable with them selling for years ago. The problem is I would kill for a $3000 Plexi now but when they were selling for $3000 I was thinking, "Man, I would kill for a $2000 Plexi now."

If you really want a Mark IV and can find one for $2500, you might want to snag it now or wait until the thread in 3 years asking why is everyone selling their Mark IV's for $4000.

Yeah, the prices on the Mark IV have gone through the roof. I got one last year and was valuing it at around $1400, now I see them listing at twice that. As they started going over $2k I thought, "Good thing I still have it, cause there's no way I'd buy another for that price," but with prices close to $3k... The urge to sell might be hard to fight off

Last time I bought a Plexi I paid $600. I sold it for $600. That was the going price at the time. I never thought they would sell for $1000 at the time.
Same with the Mark IIC+....No one thought they would sell for the price they are now.
It's the same with the cars, homes and everything else.

Yeah I’ve been trying to score a jp-2c at a reasonable price for months now. Buncha shit heads selling them at shit head prices though

I just made a pretty penny on a very nice, very early blackdot HRGX selling to someone overseas.

I did replace it with that 1974 Monomyth SLP tho (and a Ceriatone 2204 JEl Spec clone) ?
Good to see the Marshall is working out for you ??

This is what I've been saying to everyone since prices started going up during the pandemic. We will not ever see those old pre-pandemic prices again, especially not on vintage gear (I'm including 80s and some early 90s in that description). Sure, maybe newer gear made in the last 10-20 years might drop 10-20% as supply goes back up but those old days of getting a JCM 800 for $1000 or a 90s Dual Recto for $600 are over.

I saw that, it’s sort of scummy to try to capitalize on fellow guitar players, especially the forum boys. I hope nobody buys

Weren't you the same person that said all the current selling prices were fake, phony, no body is really selling amps at these prices????

Let me refresh your memory: See post #2

I still don’t believe people are fetching these prices in actuality

Now if someone sells something at market value it's "sort of scummy"? Who made you the moral authority here? Like to signal that social virtue much? As I told you then, you have absolutely ZERO clue of current market prices for used gear. Now you have come to some sort of realization, rationalization and want to name-call, bitch, moan, and throw a fit?

Prices have gone up? No shit! Have a cookie.

Here's another news flash for you... go look at the prices of real-estate, used cars, gas, food, lumber, and a bunch of other stuff. It's called inflation. Go try to by a used car for the same price today that you paid 1 year ago.

Get ready for another hissy fit. Prices go up overtime. That's how the world works. Also read a little bit on an idea called supply-and-demand. Sitting and whining and crying about it won't make it any better. Grow up.

You are on your way to overcoming denial. Keep working on it.

Go play your guitar, noob ?

I no issue, the market will correct. Until then donnie will still remain lame and continue to post needless information that is annoying to no end.

Yep I bought plexi`s from Brent Magnano every other month back then.

Let's see some of you who think the sellers are scum post some of your amps for sale at price levels that are "realistic". I've got my wallet ready.

Me too. Methinks I'll be waiting a while for that to happen.

I just think it is a little scummy to buy low and turn around and sell high to forumites, as I believe it is a community and profiteering off of friends isn't the coolest. I guess that isnt really what its about anymore anyways so it hardly matters what my opinion is. And I guarantee you would not buy any of my shit if i tried selling it for reasonable prices because its really quite close to the actual going rate. Source: ive still been buying and selling

When it's time for me to sell something I am ready to move on and want $ in my pocket so I try to price it fairly in relationship to market. I don't give it away and I don't go for top dollar. I will generally price at slightly above the average if there are enough recent transactions for me to go by. If the market is high or low at that time, that's what it is.

It’s like gas. I got my truck in December and gas was 1.95, now it’s 3.25. I drive a lot and fill up about three times a week 16 gallons. That’s 62.50 extra a week, over 52 weeks that’s $3,250. I could have bought a mark iii pink stripe or some shit with that money

Yeah, there’s a mk Iv in the classifieds…that’s a $1600 amp.
Do you set the price of mk 4 amps? Just because they aren't worth such and such price to you doesn't mean they aren't worth such and such price to someone else..
