...or 8 x15 ;)
Wasn't it the Who's roadies that pitched a fit about moving 8x12s, after Jim Marshall suggested cutting them in half and Pete Townshend said "meh, they can move them"?

Yes, I think so!

I built my first cab for like $20 when I was a teenager, bought half a sheet of scrap 3/4" birch at the lumber yard and had them make all the cuts on the table saw so I just had to assemble it. Bought a greenback off some dude on an old forum (probably guitargeek) for like $40 IIRC. Was janky but it sounded great ?

This is a 212 I made a while back and recently restructured. I finished it off this past weekend. Originally it looked kinda crappy and didn't sound quite right. It started life as a semi-open back, rear mount speakers, floating baffle., and bare wood. Now it's closed back, fixed baffle, and front mount speakers and covered with alligator textured vinyl. It's 3/4" birch plywood sides and baffle and 1/2" standard ply back. I did rework the inside bracing, but the only thing I completely remade was the back. Now it sounds pretty darn good. I think I have about $80-$100 invested in it not including speakers. Speakers are a WGS ET-90/Retro 30 set I had bought a good while back that got stuffed in the closet. I accidentally bought 8 ohm when I needed 16 ohm at the time. I think I paid $25 each. Not bad for a $130-1$50 investment
