My hot sports take on this is that the Dems want to keep Trump in the news for 2 reasons. It dilutes the competing Hunter Biden news cycle, but moreso, they want Trump to run in 2024. Neither party can win without the moderate vote, and moderates hate Trump.
This was pretty clear during midterms where candidates tied to Trump did not fair well at all. The Dems understand this and actually funded many Trump backed candidates. Look it up. The GOP would have done better running on the platform of letting inflation of international affairs work in their favor. Literally, the best approach would have been to stand back and let the Dems implode. But too many states made the overturning of Row, all about abortion instead of it being a states right issue. They could have used many of the well documented RBG interviews to support that. Many states enacted triggers laws and essentially the midterms went from what should have been "not Biden" to "Not Trump" and about abortion essentially allienating the moderates. It was very predictable and great strategy by the Dems and political suicide and being out of touch by the GOP. Chess vs Checkers is a great analogy.
That said, it doesn't matter what you think about Trump. You must acknowledge that moderates hate him, so if he runs, the same thing will happen. Desantis on the other hand won alot of the moderate vote and actually some of the Dem votes.
Again you don't win elections with just your base.

Excellent post but I disagree here. It's 100% the opposite. The GOP is trying as hard as possible to keep the Biden's in the news to deflect from Trump's very serious legal issues.
And it isn't the Dems keeping Trump in the news. He is really awesome at doing that all by himself.

The Hunter stuff has been going on for 3 years and plenty evidence that shows collusion between the FBI, DOJ, has been putting pressure on big tech to suppress it. Enough evidence to where a federal judge had to tell the Biden admin to stand down. You don't find the timing the least bit suspicious that the indictment coincide with the election cycle and Hunter testimony? The Trump DOJ didn't impede investigations against Trump associates, but somehow, the "establishment" are untouchable. Whistleblowers are being dismissed. The corruption of the DOJ, FBI, and the intelligence community should scare everyone.
It's not a Dem thing or a GOP thing. It's an establishment thing. Trump is an outsider and a threat to the establishment.

They are publicly accessible court docs that read pretty easy. It would probably help you rationalize your beliefs if you read them and at least comprehended the actual charges.
And there is a huge difference between Biden or Pence finding docs voluntarily, reporting them, and turning them back to the archives compared to what Trump did, which was try to hoard them and instruct people to conceal them or lie about having them, including his own lawyers. This whole rationalizing "both sides do it so it shouldn't matter" is utterly insane. Me spilling a cup of water and cleaning it up isn't the same as an oil tanker dumping crude oil and covering it up. Trump had so many chances to do the right thing and keep this out of the public eye.
