I've been loving my old tele with Fralin blues specials lately. Thought this track I threw together last week came out pretty decent. I used the bridge pickup for all the dirty tones and neck for the first half of the" clean" bit, running the Neural DSP Rabea plugin.
So a little back story for anyone who cares. This 94 MIM tele was my first guitar, it was a Christmas gift from my dad, freshman year of high school. It was one a few options that local guitar shop had that was under the $200 budget. I spent the next several years staring at Jackson, Ibanez, and Gibsons in musicians friend catalogs. When I got old enough to afford my own guitars, I went the dual humbucker high gain route & never looked back, but I've always had a thing for teles.
This one never got played much, even though it was super valuable to me. Finally last year, I pulled the trigger on some replacement pickups after years of putting it off. I found a good deal on some Fralin blues specials, and holy shit was I shocked at how much they brought this guitar back to life for me! It's gone from that sentimental guitar I rarely touched, to something I reach for and enjoy playing on a regular basis.
