Pedals in the loop question

I rarely use the effects loop on all of my amps. I want to start and try utilizing the effects loop What 2 pedals would you recommend I start with? I already have a delay in mind. What other type of pedal should I try? Also, what is a good delay pedal to start with? I know this is rabbit hole just like OD's. Don't mind spending a little for a delay as I would rather get a good one to start with. I'm basically just an OD and noise gate into the front of the amp person.

I'm using my TC Electronics flashback2 delay, TC Corona chorus (very subtle) and Zuul gate in the loop, just for a bit of flavor instead of the sterile bland tones.

I have 2 noise gates, an NS-2 and a Gup Tech Sun noise gate. I also have a GE-7. As far as amps go... Mark III, Mark VII, 6505, 5153 50w EL34, 5153 50w stealth and a KRS Colossus. What's delays should I look at?

I have a MXR Carbon Copy analog delay. Honestly don't have much delay experience. I rarely use it and if I do it is very subtle. I also have an NS2 in the X pattern it seem to cover the front and the back surprisingly well. Nice amp collection.

As far as which Delay/Verb to get, I would highly recommend Strymon.

I picked up my 2 units unbeknownst of the absolute internet war over the love/hate of the brand. I have tried Wampler, Boss, TC, etc. and nothing has the depth or dimension that the Strymon does. They also leave the guitar dry signal unaffected, which I really enoy. It took me a LONG time but I finally dropped the cash on a used TimeLine and have not regretted it one bit. I also got a Nightsky crazy cheap. That pedal makes wild, atmospheric sounds that are otherworldly - not your typical reverb. I will also say that I HATE spending a ton of time dialing in pedals now. I also dislike things that are too complicated. Though the TimeLine seems complicated, it really isn't at all. I find the unit very simple to use and full of rewarding sounds.

Depends on what you like. I like Chorus, Delay, and Reverb.

The tried & true Strymon Timeline is a good fx loop is hard to beat.

General rule of thumb, put any time based effects in the loop, after the distortion. I always do EQ first, then chorus, delay and Reverb. There is no right or wrong, but I always put EQ first and Reverb last.

I use the Boss DD-500 and DM-101.

The DM-101 does analog delay in ways I never heard before. Sure the digital stuff is more versatile. But the analog sound is just a different experience.

I'm putting together a board for my band. This is what I am thinking so far.

As far as which Delay/Verb to get, I would highly recommend Strymon.

I really like their verb and delay. I just want a little innocuous single slapback, and a little room effect. Those pedals are some of the few I've tried that will work after a boost, without being "off" or "too much" just looking at the mix knob. I'm not using an ounce of their capability, but they are my favorites by far for that purpose.

I like the TC Electronic Flashback, Hall of Fame, and Corona for this reason. I have never tried Strymon since I dont need all the settings, but have always been interested in the DIG. I have also always been curious about the Source Audio Collider.

You are on the same pathway I was on. I felt the same way since I figured I didn't need any of the extras on the Strymon. Check out Source Audio and anything else I could get my hands on or listen to.

I had some doubts when I decided to buy the decade old TimeLine. I figured, surely, something has more dimension and depth of sound - wrong.

The Time Line is where it is at! If you want a smaller format, I get it. I probably use like 5 of the delays on the TL regularly. I like having Analog, Tape and Digital all in one unit.

The Analog Dry through of the Strymon units are solid as can be.

I like the TC Electronic Flashback 2, and just ignore the Toneprint stuff. I like that it is very clean sounding, and doesn't mess with your original tone.

The Boss Delays are also a good choice. DD-3T, DD-8, etc....

I also agree about dry-through

I would suggest strymon - especially the volante is a great "all in one" delay pedal plus spring verb
