My grown adult friend is so upset about TikTok...

Call me old fashioned, but I have no sympathy for people that are losing their "job" because of the TikTok ban, or losing their "voice". Maybe it's because I've thought TikTok is lame and dumb the entire time it's been around, but it has really helped dumb down the youth. Like, our country is now dumber because of its existence over the past several years. These "influencers" all need to go get real jobs and eat a bag of dicks while they're at it. I hope they ban Instagram next and pass laws making it impossible for people to make money off of YouTube as well.

My friend is 41, has a very good job making good money, so he's not doing it for money like so many people whose life and income is posting them doing stupid shit and dumbasses following them and encouraging them. He does it to put out recordings of him playing cover songs on his acoustic. He's upset because he's like oh this is just step 1, they're coming for our free speech next! Just you wait and see. Honestly, I don't see why people give two shits about what others think of their recordings or covers.

I'm not a tiktok user but I agree with your buddy. In this case it's the rightwing censors pushing for control, just like the left with Twitter.

I don't see how Tiktok is any more culturally damaging than YouTube or Twitter.

I’d be interested to see how many will[attempt] filing for unemployment benefits. A lot of people are out of a job today. It’s gonna take a lot longer than 90 days to make a deal fly, as if it was a viable endeavor it would have been purchased already. I know Mr. Wonderful - Kevin O’Leary (the worlds worst axe man) is in negotiations but if it was going anywhere it would be done by now.

I think they banned it because they don't want an integrated Chinese/American internet culture which will show how completely destroyed the US economy is due to our leaders (who made all their money doing so) and how China is developing at an insane rate.

I think that's part of it, but we didn't see a real move to ban it until kids starting seeing non-stop streams of Palestinian kids blown apart which of course influenced their "antisemitic" opinions on Israel.

I think they banned it because a Chinese owned company doesn’t bend to the will of the powers that be (looking at you ISREAL) and the current narrative we’re being sold and isn’t an easily manipulated asset like Cuckerberg.

Nothing has really changed over the years - the octopus just needs another arm called Chinese Spyware. The arm that says smallpox should say Covid. The one that says customs robbery should say intellectual property theft. Fan-tan should say gambling. Another arm should say CCP beligerence. Another arm should say "invade neighbouring countries in a property grab". This is still relevant today:

If you want Chinese spyware on your devices go right ahead.

This is the answer and the only answer.
Has nothing to do with limiting freedom of speech, right wing control, or other lala land fantasies about Palestine or Israel. That's a reach if I've ever seen one. :rolleyes:
You would have to be among the dumbest people on the planet to fall for that lazy minded bs.
TikTok = CCP spyware.

TikTok = CCP spyware.
Then why aren't they banning Red Note? Or any other Chinese app? Why are they letting American companies sell data to China? Talk about living in lala land. We're in total NPC land here. ...I'm sure you have the inside scoop though that no regular people have access to and only you understand.

They should ban them. We shouldn't outsource any electronic components to China at all. They can embed stuff in the firmware easily. Security cameras, routers, cars - you name it. Tv's... virtually anything. Did you see that the Israelis controlled a 2 way radio and blew up hamas with some explosives in it. It's easy enough. Maybe suddenly disable a BYD electric car and clog all the roads in the event of a war. Or disable the brakes, lock the accelerator on, disable the charging safeguards to cause fires in all your houses who knows...

Fine, but they're not banning these things and they won't. It would destroy the American economy. Where do you think your iPhone came from?
