Hi I am looking at buying a SLO 100 and apparently it continues to blow fuses. I was under the impression that it might be power tubes but figured I would ask around first if there are other known issues that could cause this to happen? I don't have access to the amp and waiting on the seller to send me pictures of the insides. Thanks in advance.

Seems like a gamble.
Do you know what year it is or anything else about it?

My jcm 4500 DR suddenly blew the main fuse.
Before i took it in i checked the tubes

One PT looked like it had snow inside

Replaced both and all is well plus i didn't have to open it up to bias.
Checked out to a nice cool 38Ma on my euro probe

Have the current owner swap out tubes before you commit

They’re pretty robust amps. If it is blowing tubes it’s probably because of a shorted power tube.

Needs screen grid resistors checked and the primary of the OT ohmed out to check to see if it’s damaged (since fuses is plural which is not good)

From what i know it is the main fuse burns out ever few hours or at random times . The seller did not have a speaker to test it i am waiting for them to get in touch and bring mine.

Mains and not HT has me thinking something more serious like bad caps or residual damage from tube failure. I’d proceed with caution IMO.

What is ht? I was told it is the fuse in the back that is easy to get to. Is that the main one? Sorry if i am not understanding or using the correct term

High tension fuse for the high voltage secondary. Mains is for 120V primary. Mains and HT are marked on the back above the fuse - it matters which is blowing.

Thank you for the knowledge and your time. I will find out which one as soon as possible.

I was told it is from the 1990s. It is nine hundred dollars and why i thought it was not too bad of a gamble. I am waiting for pictures and will update if i find out more.

$900?
Ripoff, just give me their contact info.
Will set them straight.

I hope you get it cheap, does it blow them fast or after some use, if immediate after no use look for shorted filer and bad caps or diodes also any bad tube will blow a fuse, if its shorted.
