Floyd is a real G and knows St. Louis. Other people talk about St. Louis and don't know. Danimal knows St. Louis. Thump does.I'm sure he's impressing himself.
Not scared. There's just no reason to visit STL. And if you don't know anything about the area you're probably getting your car window bashed out and all your shit stolen.People being scared of visiting St.Louis. Psshhh. Talking about separating the wheat from the chaff.
Dude, I can tell you right now from this post you were not in the "Bad" parts of St. Louis. No fucking way you go to say Thrush and Thekla and think it's not the actual hood.I'm not trying to be a competitive douche bag, but I was surprised with how nice the bad parts of st. Louis actually were.
I come from Flint, Mi, and have spent a lot of time in Detroit, for many years.
When a visiting friend and I traveled to St. Louis in the early 2000s... We kind of laughed.
We drove through the bad part of town, on a scorching summer day, and the looks we got were hilarious. Do believe I overheard someone saying, "I don't think you belong here!"
I could not stop laughing, and remarked that if they wanted to see an actual 'hood, they could follow us back home to Michigan.
Spend any time on the north end of Flint and you will understand.
I just couldn't believe how nice it all was. Parks like every few blocks. And the grass was mowed. No abandoned shopping carts....i really was impressed. Still sticks with me today.
Not sure if it is still like that. But as stated before, I would rather St. Louis than DC. DC reminds me of a better Detroit...in ways.
Just my dumb 2 cents.
Edit - Also. I'm one of those "crazy white boys", that likes to roam urban areas at night, it seems to scare people ... which is amusing.
Who, me ?I'm sure he's impressing himself.
Like I said, it was about 25 years ago.Dude, I can tell you right now from this post you were not in the "Bad" parts of St. Louis. No fucking way you go to say Thrush and Thekla and think it's not the actual hood.
I was kidding really...but it's always a good feeling when you travel and someone asks where you are from and you say STL. They look at you with that horror face. Not scared. There's just no reason to visit STL. And if you don't know anything about the area you're probably getting your car window bashed out and all your shit stolen.![]()
We went out west on a road trip to Idaho in like 2019. I can't tell you how many people after asking us where we were from told us they drive around St. Louis on their way back east.I was kidding really...but it's always a good feeling when you travel and someone asks where you are from and you say STL. They look at you with that horror face.
St. Louis, particularly north St. Louis, was a shithole 25 years ago too.Like I said, it was about 25 years ago.
Was there for 3 days, don't even know the streets.
So possibly you are right. As you live there, I cannot speak to it...I suppose. But we drove all over that city and the burbs....
Also, east st. Louis....ew.
I stick by my statement. Flint, and Detroit are like Beirut...whole stretches of blocks with just one or 2 houses. So many abandoned schools.
Like i said, not being a comparative douche....just an experience I remember.![]()
The-Kid.Who, me ?
It's horrendous when you see it up close.St. Louis, particularly north St. Louis, was a shithole 25 years ago too.
Detroit and St. Louis took turns being murder capitol for many years.
I suspect every major city has whole stretches of abandoned houses and neighborhoods that look like Beirut. A couple years ago I was working in the Annie Malone neighborhood ( surely Japetus knows where this is). We were there for about 2 months. I put a service in Sumner High School. It was a historic school. First black school west of the Mississippi. Lots of famous people went there. Robert Gillaume, Tina Turner, etc. I was aghast at the state of their football field. Their sled was some shitty homemade contraption with like couch cushions taped to it. Less than a year after I put that service in Sumner joined the long list of other STL public schools that were abandoned. There's a common denominator here. The people running the city, well, let's just say the animals are running the zoo and the animals are stupid, corrupt and don't give a fuck. A couple months ago they fired the superintendent of St. Louis public schools for massive fraud and abuse. The Mayor of STL is the daughter of Virvus Jones, a former city Comptroller who was removed and did time for embezzlement. He is his daughter's advisor. They elected and re-elected Kim Gardner who literally didn't prosecute murders that were caught on video, supposedly for lack of evidence. You get the point.
In 2003 My best friend was murdered on Bell street in E. St. Louis by an 18 year old and two 17 year olds. Shot in the back through the cab of his truck in an attempted robbery. The only reason they were caught is because he was in the Navy and stationed at Scott AFB. Less than 7 years later all three of his killers were back on the street.
Who cares which shithole is worse. Focus on the common denominators. Demographics man. And not surprisingly they are almost universally controlled by Democrats.
Well in your defense, Hannibal is pretty cool. Did you walk up to the lighthouse ?It's horrendous when you see it up close.
Coming back from vacation out west, I wanted to see Hannibal Mo....Mark Twain and all that and always wanted to see it. Just a dump from one end to the other and so glad to get outta there. I could make a good guess on the party in control.
Glad to know there's a good side. Can't remember the route we took though the city but we didn't vary from it, I felt any "exploring" could end badly...but that's how you miss the good stuff.Well in your defense, Hannibal is pretty cool. Did you walk up to the lighthouse ?
One time when I was about 6 years old my mom had a trip up to Hannibal planned for me and my best friend. The morning of I was running a 103 fever. I felt fine. My mom was going to cancel the trip and at the last minute my fever broke and we got to go. I've only ever been there one other time and that was shortly after meeting my first wife. We took a weekend trip up there and stayed in a hotel. I was 18. I remember listening to Yngwie's Rising Force the whole way up.
Anyway, yeah, the city is a dump. Unless someone I love is up at Barnes or I am being paid I have no interest in going up. I spent 9 years working all over north city. I don't regret it. It wasn't all bad. I met a lot of cool old people up there, trapped in those shitholes. Helped a lot of them out as much as I could. Got shot at a few times and had a couple of my friends murdered on my job. Other than that it wasn't horrible. I made a fuck ton of money.
It's a shame. I used to love living in south St. Louis. Riding a ten speed down to Jimmy's Saloon so I wouldn't get a DWI. Almost everything I needed was within walking distance.
Glad to know there's a good side. Can't remember the route we took though the city but we didn't vary from it, I felt any "exploring" could end badly...but that's how you miss the good stuff.
My cousin is a detective in a NoCo town that rhymes with "Morrisant" and he said that Jennings toward 70 (Station Road) is the overall worst area right now. I damn well believe him.Hannibal is a pretty good ways north of STL. There is a STL "Metro", which is pretty much STL city, STL county, Jefferson County and St. Charles county as well as some of Illinois, like St, Clair County. But in reality people in Jefferson, St. Charles and other outlying counties don't consider themselves St. Louisans. Other than in the broader sense or in conversation with people who are unfamiliar with it.
Still, the city isn't all bad. I could drive/guide you through to most of the cool shit without any issues. So in that sense it's like anywhere else. If you know which areas to avoid or at least not stop in, it's not bad. Unfortunately some of the cool stuff is located in places you really wouldn't want to leave your car unattended. Never take the ghetto train ( Metrolink). When I know I have to go to a sketchy area I usually drive a beater and just leave the windows down. Like if I catch a show at The Pageant, which is a world class place to see a show. We were so close to the stage for AIC that Jerry acknowledged my daughter screaming at him. There are a few good places to see concerts left. The American Theater is gone, but it was great. I haven't been to a few of the newer ones, but they're probably good. I'd say as long as your car is reliable and you don't stop and fuck around in some shitfuck neighborhood you'll be fine.
You can't be that dense. And yeah....... as someone else pointed out rules don't really matter at TGP...... it's just BS and you can break the rules and they don't matter as long as you have your Woke Certificate or not sure what the hell.
Bunch of hypocrisy and BS....... same lames in there too always arguing about stupid shit pretty much and being toxic garbage who just report other members like me for not even breaking any actual rules. None will get a ban or anything I guess participating...... If you talk about politics and obvios WoKe garbage you can break the rules at TGP and the rules don't even matter as long as your with A-Bone and the rest of the lame squad.
A lot of Woke garbage Members in that thread...... and the reason TGP is the way it is now and they essentially are trying to purge the forum of non-Woke members so BS like this becomes normal on the forum now and "normal".

I'm sorry but what logic is there to banning members like me and others that break no rules..... or reprimanding them. You can't be that dense.
For somebody that claims you were a liberal voter you sure don't know how shit works. Which is of course why you got banned.
