What the best arrangement? Should I put them in an X pattern or run the V30's on top or run the V30's on the bottom?

I know Bogner X's V30's with 75's and Friedman run Greenbacks on top and V30's on the bottom???

On a side note the 2013 made in China G12T75's are considerably lighter than the made in UK Mesa V30's....what's up with that? It almost feels like the speaker frame is thinner than the UK V30's...........

75s use a 35oz M (medium) magnet while v30s use the 50oz H (heavy) magnet. M Magnets are visibly smaller than H’s
I had always assumed the G12T75's used an H magnet due to it's higher wattage......interesting. Thanks for the info.

Have used them in an X pattern and in a 2x12 with happy results along with my XXX and JSX.
I feel like X pattern is a go to for this combo.
Didn't care for them together as much in my KH412 and modern amps, though.

I have them in an X pattern in my Avatar and VHT FB. I feel that’s the way to go.

x
got the bogner uberkab ipswich v30s/75s when it first came out in early 2000s and it sounded killer with the egnater tol100 i bought it for and mesa mark III. both darker low mids amps.
but when i got my peacemaker (plexi marshall) it hated the 75s. eventually became 4 different speakers in the cab-v30, gh30, greenback, scumback.

The X pattern is the way to go with these. The reason GBs go on top of V30s is because of efficiency differences. The GBs get lost if they aren't closest to your ear. T75s are closer in efficiency, so they mix well.

I had this combo in my Splawn 4x12 for a while.

X pattern is my favorite...

I have Scumbacks in there now in a X pattern of M's and H's

I like the way the sound mixes in X much more than lower efficiency speakers on top.

x or 75 on top and V30 at the bottom. Probably better to use Greenbacks on top.

X pattern. I used to have v30's mixed with t75's in my avatar cab, but then went with all v30's because it's more in your face sounding IMO. I find the t75's have a kinda distant midrange to them, kinda made the cab a bit hazy sounding.

The 75s are 1db less in efficiency than the Greenbacks . I would try the 75s up top . I had them up top in a 4x12 with Creamback 75s (not a V30 but same efficiency) on the bottom and it sounded great

Are you running an all V30 W/W/W setup?

Power handling has to do with how much the voice coil can take before it breaks in some fashion from overheating. (this is why a lot of woofers have vents in them, especially subwoofers)

I just got done playing through my 75Hz Heritage 12H-30 cab.........luv em........

Am I crazy to consider mixing two Scumback Blackback 12H-30 30 or 65 watters with the Mesa V-30S?

It's been a long time since I've played any T75's.........I love the Mesa V30's though, they are killer in my Mesa Roadster cabinet so I picked up two to throw in to this 1960 A cab I picked up and it came with the T75's so I thought I would at least try them out and see if I like them.

I'm not a green back guy so 12H-30's are my go to speaker.

Efficiency probably wasn't the correct term. I meant sensitivity. The GB is 97db, the T75 is 98db, and a V30 is 100db. The T75 and V30 are close enough to cross, but the GB and V30 are enough apart to need the GB on top.

In thinking about this (as well as looking up specs, since I was working from memory the first time), I now realize that the limit for mixing speakers is about 2db. Now I want to test this theory in the most unscientific way possible: Asking a forum what they think.

Does this rating gap in sensitivity hold up on other speakers? I used to love the V30 H30 cross, and those are both 100db. Maybe I'll bounce this topic to it's own thread. You read it here first folks!

Celestion shows the T75 at 97db and the Greenback at 98db

While you have it apart, check all the screws. I bought a couple older ones, and they both had finger tight or loose bolts on the speakers, and the baffles had loose screws on both. It seemed to make a positive difference just shoring everything up, and replacing the cheap wiring/jacks IME.
