I’ve been going through the same with my Ibanez RG. It’s the only guitar I have that is even slightly suitable for blues jams I’m doing. Normally I play 7 strings. Tried different pickups trying to soften it up, etc. You just can’t make something sound like something else.Seems like Australia has a lot to love but I can't afford to take that trip. I would love to go to the outback someday and then drive to Perth. @Thumbpicker offered to put me up for a few days in NSW (lol j/k about that but he's a good sport).
@mentoneman loves his Tyler and I know @sandman couldn't resist once he laid hands on them. I bought an LTD Viper Deluxe 1000 this year and it plays phenomenally, has stainless frets but through my Twin the tone has left a little to be desired which has kind of been a disappointment. Thinking about trying to trade for a PRS se hollowbody ii. I haven't found the right pickup combo for the Viper yet. I just installed a super distortion in the bridge and a leftover Seth in the neck (not my ideal but it filled the hole) and need to test it but my main amp is down at a bandmate's place cause we've been rehearsing every week for a bluesfest next month and I don't wanna carry it back and forth.
But yeah Tyler’s SHOULD be great, they cost a fortune! I would have bought the one I played, but I think I better pay for my kids education first right now.
