Neo-soul “jokes”. Or, how unfunny people ruin a place.

Seems like Australia has a lot to love but I can't afford to take that trip. I would love to go to the outback someday and then drive to Perth. @Thumbpicker offered to put me up for a few days in NSW (lol j/k about that but he's a good sport).

@mentoneman loves his Tyler and I know @sandman couldn't resist once he laid hands on them. I bought an LTD Viper Deluxe 1000 this year and it plays phenomenally, has stainless frets but through my Twin the tone has left a little to be desired which has kind of been a disappointment. Thinking about trying to trade for a PRS se hollowbody ii. I haven't found the right pickup combo for the Viper yet. I just installed a super distortion in the bridge and a leftover Seth in the neck (not my ideal but it filled the hole) and need to test it but my main amp is down at a bandmate's place cause we've been rehearsing every week for a bluesfest next month and I don't wanna carry it back and forth.
I’ve been going through the same with my Ibanez RG. It’s the only guitar I have that is even slightly suitable for blues jams I’m doing. Normally I play 7 strings. Tried different pickups trying to soften it up, etc. You just can’t make something sound like something else.

But yeah Tyler’s SHOULD be great, they cost a fortune! I would have bought the one I played, but I think I better pay for my kids education first right now.

Can you guys get Edwards guitars over there? My E-LP is a pretty good blues machine for $600 US but I did swap pickups out. I don't own any guitars that I didn't change pickups in. The further I go the more selective I've gotten with gear but I also rid myself of a lot I didn't need. Can't really afford to just sit on unused gear on my income.

What's weird is I used to hate PRS and JAMES TYLER with a fury but something snapped inside me one day and now I been GAS'ing a good bit to own one of each someday, especially if PRS makes a ten top 335. I even bought a spaceman pedal a month or so ago. I wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and say to myself "what the hell happened to you dude?"
I once said i would never own a Tyler because of the headstock shape alone. But here I am….i ate my own words lol. And im damn glad to know you mr vonbonfire! Neo soul threads or not i enjoy the rigtalk forum. Nothing wrong with humor and gear talk

Yeah seen Edwards around. Not in stores. I get to go to Japan for work sometimes. I plan to check out some when there. There are some very nice Edwards over there.

Yeah and the prices in Japan are pretty good, at least from a US perspective. Def worth a look and beat the hell outta any Epiphone I've tried.

I'm glad to know you too brother! I hated that headstock but yeah, it grew on me plus all the reports of how well they play. Now I think the headstock looks killer. The PRS' have grown on me too. Life, and gear, is weird but I just decided to keep a more open mind about it and roll with it. I don't own a single piece of gear that twenty years ago would've said "I want that one day".

Yea we evolve in our gear taste and our music journey. Like today in the gym i listened to some “blues on the inside”and while pumping some iron i always listened to metal etc…but man i got a good pump. A neo soul pump 🤣

It's weird. I was all about Fenders and Marshalls until 2015. Then I got an ES and started using fingerpicks that I had only used on acoustics. Then I traded the Marshall for a Twin, dude gave me more in trade in than I paid for the head. I don't own any Fender guitars anymore...

Sometimes we get stuck in traditional ways and in a “If it aint broke dont fix it” mindset. Then one day we realize a newer or different tool is better suited for what we are trying to build or accomplish. No shame in that! It’s about what fuels you and helps you be creative.

As long as I don't become one of those PRS guys who has to be barefoot when on stage I'm cool with whatever guitar I wind up using.

Neo soul can be hillarious
