Just threw this together so I could hear how the DR RI records vs. an OG Rev G Triple. Pretty sure I can hear the mids that have me thinking the RI could work well live.
Yep. The GZ Triple i did the demo vid for was nuts good!I trust your opinion as we have similar tastes, so the one i played must not have been the same

I had a fantastic Tverb and loved it at home. However, it was so so dark on stage (metal band).I haven’t played a RI yet but I like the clips I’ve heard.
I’ve been on the fence about moving my Tremoverb to get a different amp I’m liking more currently and then eventually finding a reissue for my recto fix, but I don’t know… the Tremoverb is really something.
My GZ Trem can get insanely bright if desired. It has in essence, four controls that affect brightness...of course treble and presence but also the Reverb knob, which has a HUGE impact on brightness and the two trem knobs also to a lesser degree.I had a fantastic Tverb and loved it at home. However, it was so so dark on stage (metal band).
This is most likely the best sounding RI clip I’ve head. Great work and great tone!![]()
Being honest I've struggled for years to get a recorded tone out of Rectos that I was happy with. The MWs were better here for me than the OG 2ch, and this RI is smoking them all to my ear. Most of the clips are too loose or flubby at bottom end but your tone is not. I’ve seen some killer clips with a boosted recto but it was so nice to hear a great tone out of these without a boost…![]()
I think that’s what I like about it. But mine does get pretty bright if I set Orange to Modern.I had a fantastic Tverb and loved it at home. However, it was so so dark on stage (metal band).
No, the Badlander does not sound like a Recto at all. It can get sort of there in certain settings in comparisons, but in general it’s a totally different amp. I use it as my main gigging amp for the last few years, but it really shouldn’t have been called a rectifier.I had a few rectifiers in the past. Considering that I usually stayed on the silicon mode for more modern tones, does that mean I should just get a Badlander- it seems to be a rectifier without those extra power tube options for spongy vintage?
People can argue all day about it shouldnt be called a rectifier, but, I think it is one of the very best amps I have owned and played over the last 40 years. No, the Badlander does not sound like a Recto at all. Your video is the reason I had to hunt one down. Absolutely love that ampYep. The GZ Triple i did the demo vid for was nuts good!
Put this together, a reamp comparo of the orange vs. red channels, this time both boosted with my OD-1X.
Red channel full mix 0:00
Orange channel full mix 4:04
Red channel guitar only 8:09
Orange channel guitar only 12:13
Just for funsies, here's the album version recorded with my IIC+ KRG and the same cab.
