The Dual Recto RI is the best Recto to date. A hill I'm ready to die on.

Just threw this together so I could hear how the DR RI records vs. an OG Rev G Triple. Pretty sure I can hear the mids that have me thinking the RI could work well live.

This is most likely the best sounding RI clip I’ve head. Great work and great tone! 😎

But it’s nowhere to be found in europe

I haven’t played a RI yet but I like the clips I’ve heard.

I’ve been on the fence about moving my Tremoverb to get a different amp I’m liking more currently and then eventually finding a reissue for my recto fix, but I don’t know… the Tremoverb is really something.

I had a fantastic Tverb and loved it at home. However, it was so so dark on stage (metal band).

I’ve had a C,D,F and G, and the RI is my favorite of them all.
It’s the tightest, while still being richer and juicier, especially in the mids.
The bass is less boomy and much more usable as well.
I’ve always much preferred orange to red, but on this amp I can say that I love them equally.
Mesa killed it on this one.

My GZ Trem can get insanely bright if desired. It has in essence, four controls that affect brightness...of course treble and presence but also the Reverb knob, which has a HUGE impact on brightness and the two trem knobs also to a lesser degree.

Most of the clips are too loose or flubby at bottom end but your tone is not. I’ve seen some killer clips with a boosted recto but it was so nice to hear a great tone out of these without a boost… 🙏

Being honest I've struggled for years to get a recorded tone out of Rectos that I was happy with. The MWs were better here for me than the OG 2ch, and this RI is smoking them all to my ear.

Here's an example. This amp was devastating in the room, but sounded like this on the mic. (no mids no ass, which I was never happy with) To be fair, some (most?) of that was my learning curve, but still..

I think that’s what I like about it. But mine does get pretty bright if I set Orange to Modern.

I had a 3-channel for a long time (pre-multiwatt) that was pretty bright but not in a pleasant way. I had Friedman mod it around 2010 or so. It was very cool but still wasn’t giving me quite what I wanted so I traded it for a Mark IV. That was killer. Had it for about 10 years and then traded it for the Tremoverb, haha. I’m always back and forth with rectifiers but the TV has been my favorite so far.

Played the Recto RI at band rehearsal today for the first time. And, for the first time, I had a Recto that held its own against a Marshall! So, I'm still very happy with this amp.

I was playing through my 2001 Recto Trad 4x12 which is a beast, and darker than my Marshall cabs. I ended up running the red channel boosted with the treble & presence dimed and it sounded fantastic with the group.

The orange channel (modern), while I do love things about it, still wasn't as bright or as tight as I'd like live with the high end throttled and boosted.

The red channel NOT boosted was a bit better in that regard and was working for lower gain stuff. For high gain stuff though, boosting the red channnel was killing it. It cut the right amount of ass for the tone to stay tight & cut through. It paired well with the 2205 where each amp sat in its own space & could both be heard.

So I think I'm dialing in a solid live setup with this amp. Orange for cleans, red for low gain / high gain (boost off vs on), and switchable loop for solos where I can put in a reverb pedal and bump the volume a touch.

Pulled the RI chassis out for testing & inspection. In bold / tube using the stock 6L6 the amp is running 488 plate volts, and the stock STR445 YELLOW are around 28 mA. (each color moves ~6 mA). This is right in line with all other Rectos, they've been historically consistent here.

Haven't tried the new one, but I've never been able to click with any of the previous ones. The feel of those amps is just so different.

I had a few rectifiers in the past. Considering that I usually stayed on the silicon mode for more modern tones, does that mean I should just get a Badlander- it seems to be a rectifier without those extra power tube options for spongy vintage?
No, the Badlander does not sound like a Recto at all. It can get sort of there in certain settings in comparisons, but in general it’s a totally different amp. I use it as my main gigging amp for the last few years, but it really shouldn’t have been called a rectifier.

People can argue all day about it shouldnt be called a rectifier, but, I think it is one of the very best amps I have owned and played over the last 40 years.

It is so good that I am thinking of selling off my modded 1983 JCM 800. And that says a lot!

Put this together, a reamp comparo of the orange vs. red channels, this time both boosted with my OD-1X.

Red channel full mix 0:00
Orange channel full mix 4:04
Red channel guitar only 8:09
Orange channel guitar only 12:13

Just for funsies, here's the album version recorded with my IIC+ KRG and the same cab.

I like the red channel the best for this song, it was more aggressive and pissed sounding.
